Kenton does not allow himself much free time as he is a workaholic and is addicted to his job, He likes to read about the latest developments and breakthroughs in magic, as long as it is useful or practical magic and not the dark kind. He won’t have anything whatsoever to do with that.
When he can tear himself away from his school work and his books, he would happily spend quality time with his wife and children back home. The children are home schooled and he tries to assist in that regard when he has the opportunity. He might remark now and then that he is too busy for a social life but he is perfectly comfortable with the lifestyle choices that he has chosen.
Positive Characteristics:
He has a strong work ethic and will push his students to work hard so they can prosper in later life. He cares for the welfare of those in his keeping and will go out of his way to assist them with their studies
Kenton is fair, level headed and even handed. He may push the students to achieve but as long as they work hard he is more than willing to help them out in any way he can. He will listen to concerns and offer what advice he can. He also has an even temper, he doesn’t anger easily and his usual teaching style is to lead by suggestion rather than shouting commands. If people don’t follow his instructions though then he is more than willing to dock house points or give detentions. Just because he may not seem authoritive he still requires that students do as he says.
Negative Characteristics:
He sometimes asks too much of students who are not capable of reaching the goals he set them, as he treats everyone equally and feels that school is a time when everyone needs to be fully committed to their work and to achieving top marks in their exams.
Due to his busy lifestyle Kenton never took the time to learn to swim.
Interaction: Whilst generally friendly, Kenton won’t tolerate nonsense or slacking by students, and will deal with rule breakers appropriately. When students work hard and attend to the tasks that they are given then he will encourage and support them. He is polite to other adults and he even smiles occasionally but laughter from him is a rarity.
Habits: A soft sigh from Kenton is a sure sign that he doesn’t approve of something he sees an whomever is responsible should buck their ideas up pronto.
Conflict and hardship: Most of the conflict Kenton comes across, discounting the animosity he might receive from some of the less well behaved students would be centred around his apparent tolerance of muggleborn students which does not sit well with certain members of the pureblood community. He tends to brush such ideas aside as ‘foolishness’ though.
Motivation, Passion and Drive: Kenton is motivated by a strong desire to help others to achieve their potential. He doesn’t like to see talent wasted. His own father was particularly lazy, he didn’t care for work all that much and as such he spent much of his own life poor. Kenton had to work himself up from having virtually nothing and he knows how hard life can be when you don’t apply yourself. He doesn’t want to see the students at Hogwarts repeating his father’s mistakes.

The Appearance
First Impression: People might think he is a slave driver the way he jumps one people’s backs sometimes.
On Second thought..: No, he actually cares for them and wants them to succeed.
Facial Features: He has short, dark hair and blue eyes. His skin is pale but not white and he is clean shaven. He has excellent eyesight and doesn’t wear glasses.
Body type: He is around 6 feet tall and of medium build, he eats a balanced diet and tends to look after his weight. He dresses smartly most of the time since he believes that first impressions are very important and he likes to lead by example.

Work Ethic: Work hard and be productive
Work perception: To Kenton this is the ideal job, he is in a position to massively influence the next generation of witches and wizards and set them on the path to prosperity. He enjoys his job and takes it very seriously.
Professional Relationships: His colleagues are just that, people with whom he shares the task of educating the young. He already has a loving family so he is not searching for romance. He would not object to referring to a number of his closest workmates as friends though.
Capabilities: Kenton’s strongest subjects are Herbology, Defence against the Dark Artts and Potions. He got Outstanding in all three of these when he was at Hogwarts. He is an intelligent man though and knowledgeable in a number of subject areas.
Resume: For a time Kenton worked in the Department of Magical Law enforcement, but he eventually decided that he would be more fulfilled by working in a career where he was helping people on a more individual level rather than society as a whole, not to mention that many of the law breakers had developed a kind of work ethic which he strongly disapproved of. In 1891 he applied for and was awarded a teaching position at Hogwarts.
The Wizard Information:
Discovery: Coming from a pure blood family, magic was second nature to him. It was just a normal part of his life. He was around seven years old when he encouraged his father’s chair to tip the occupant out of it after the man refused to do any work around the home. Kenton was on the other side of the room at the time.
Reaction and Acceptation: Kenton was more than comfortable with magic, since he had lived with it since birth.

Secrets: Hermon has a brother, Esmond d’Ambray who was not merely lazy but has criminal tendancies. He is now spending time in Azkaban for assorted misdemeanours and the family don’t like to talk about him all that much.
