Site Updates

If we change any technical aspect of the site, we'll post it in this topic to keep you up to date.


First Update:

We've added the ability to attach notes to topics in both Hogwarts and the Magical World. Everyone can read and edit those notes, and they are meant to use OOC as a means of easy communication. For example, where a question arises if something is possible or would be used in the 18th century, or if you have another issue in a topic, instead of going through tedious pming and all, just add a note to the topic.

RP/thread requests

This new subforum was born in Privet Drive. The forum is to find people interested in a thread idea that you have, or simply to find someone to RP with. You can use the topics you make in there to continue discussing your RP thread if needed.

This forum is not meant to pre-plot topics. Pre-plotting complete topics is frowned upon on DMRP. You are free to indicate where you want to go with a topic, so other people can decide if they're interested in participating.

Don't Panic!

If your post count is suddenly different from what it was, i turned off post counts in the staff forums, so all staff will have a decrease in posts counted. This should not have effected any non-staff accounts.

Not so much an update on a new functionality, but a heads up on one you already have:  

Every sorted member should be able to edit, open and close their own topics. To do this, there should be a drop down option menu below your own topics, called Topic Moderation.

When to edit your title:
If you made a typo, or want to add something.


When to open or close your topic:
When you go on holiday and would like to finish the topic later, without running the risk of the thread moving on without you. When the thread is finished or when all players lost interest in it and want to avoid someone new joining in.

Attention:

Today the boards were upgraded to a newer and better version of our forum software. It's a lot of work to actually make all the accompanying changes, but you'll hopefully find it just as worth it as I do!

It will take another few days to get everything looking like you're used to again, and get your newest feature enabled: you'll be able to change the way your own profile looks by adding color and image.

Other new features include:

- being able to react on each others status updates much like you can do on Facebook
- your status will display in the posts you posts, so you can choose to add your characters feelings to posts and change them accordingly
- a faster forum. It has been for me so far, but maybe I'm just lucky, haha
- you'll now be able to see by your name how many new conversations you have, and get a small preview of them too so you can decide to look at them later if they're not important
- some small internal things you're not likely to notice.

Known issues: instead of time and date the forum gives random numbers on the main forum page. This will be fixed as soon as the solution is found.

Topic Notes

Topic Notes can be used once more! In most RP areas, you'll notice that above each topic it will mention notes. Every member can add a note, or add to a note.

The function of this option is to give everyone a handy place to communicate ideas or questions or other OOC notes that don't warrant PMing each other or that are handy for any new members joining a topic.

Acccount Switch

For those of you who play more than one tune, we have a nifty new RPhelp for you on the forums: the easy account switch. Right under the banner you can click on the switch accounts link and set up a link between all your accounts. From then on, if you want to switch between accounts, simply click the drop down and click on the account you need. That's all! Enjoy!

Upgrades in progress

As you can see we look a bit different today. Over the next few days we will be adding back functionality so please be patient while updates are still in progress. I'll edit this post with progress reports.

Update:
Most of the functionality of the site has been restored, sadly there's currently no solution to our housepoint system. as you've seen it looks very different from how it used to look and it's beyond my technical skills to return it to former glory. Curse IPB for making my life difficult, lol!

As compensation you've been given a tagging system! In the box on the right where you write your posts you now have the option to tag other posters. They will receive a notification they've been tagged, with a link to the post they've been tagged in! Very handy! Enjoy!
