Adrian had been feeling restless as of late. To be honest the cold weather and the constantly falling snow was annoying him. Not because he didn't like snow but because he wanted to get out and explore the ground like he had done so many times. Suddenly it hit him. He remembered weeks ago overhearing one of the older Slytherins talking about some off the beaten path cave system that could be accessed from the dungeons and ran to a large cavern under the lake.

Feeling excited for the first time Adrian stood up from the table he was sitting at in the common room quickly stuffed his homework into his bag and mad his way to the door. It was at that point that he realized that he might not want to go exploring the castle by himself lest he get caught in an out of bounds area. At least if he had someone with him he could say they dragged him down here. or he was helping a fellow student back onto the right path.

Casting around the room he saw several Slytherins but none that were his age or younger. It was then that he heard the common room door slide open and he turned his brunette head towards the sound. "Ah..... Just the person I'm looking for" He said with a slight smirk.

Maddock was walking back to his dorm.  It was such a long walk back from the Great Hall.  Granted the Hall was just up the stairs, but each step was like a mile.  It was now common knowledge by dinner that he was the reason points were taken from the Slytherin pool because he did something that warranted it and was now suffering the consequences.
"Way to go, Glynn."  Voices called to as he walked.
"Someone should really muzzle your stick.  It'll be your fault if we don't win the House cup this year."  Another mocked as he just wanted to leave dinner and go find another quieter and segrgated spot away from everyone.

Maddock was just starting to unwind and feel comfortable in this new home away from home.  He was opening up and starting to try to befriend others when he did this.  All he wanted to do was to goad someone to be his partner in DADA to practice that shielding charm.  So regardless, once he opened the Common Room door, his books flung into an empty chair and he started towards the stairs to the dorms empty handed.

It wasn't until Adrian spoke that Maddock even really looked up.  There could have been a hundred people in the Common Room and Maddock wouldn't have seen them.
"What do you mean?  Are you going to slap my wrists too?"  He said a bit downtrodden after seeing the other in the room and just assuming this was just another Slytherin going to chastise him about the House Points matter.  Oh, Maddock recognized him.  Adrian was a Secondyear and probably Cerri's closest friend, but everything seemed so dark and gloomy to Maddy right about now.

A little taken aback by the the younger boys reaction Adrian had to think for a moment on the Approach he would bring to this conversation. Taking in the complete sight of the boy was like looking at someone who had taken a life times worth the loss in one day.

Not that Adrian was prone to feeling bad for people but their was something about the way Maddock looked that cause him to feel sympathy for his fellow student.

"I heard that you had quite a hard time in class the other day.... and I was just wondering if you wanted to talk about it, or even if you just wanted a friend. Someone who you could talk to about anything" He smiled at the boy before continuing "Now the thing that is great about me offering this to you is that if you ever have any questions or need help with homework or a spell that is slipping you grip, I could help you"

Adrian glanced around the room before walking closer to the younger Slytherin as well as lowering his voice. " Now before you answer me on that I would like you to go on a little adventure with me. A pioneering of sourts to map uncharted territory.... How does that sound?" Adrian finished and glanced around once again just to make sure he had not been overheard.

Maddock's face didn't change much when Adrian offered his assistance.  He wasn't sure how to take it.  Nod acceptingly, or shuffle it off as if it wasn't bothering him and go without any help or feedback or anything.   Maddock's eyes narrowed just slightly in one of those emotional hotspots that the face was famous for betraying the allowed emotions to surface.  It wasn't that he was irritated or frustrated by the offer, he just just simply didn't understand it.  So to be honest, the younger Slytherin never really answered Adrian.

The conversation changed before the moment got too awkward for Maddock to 'not answer' the older Slytherin in the room.  Adrian started talking about an adventure.  Instantly his whole demeanor changed.  He was a Glynn afterall, adventure was what they were all about...or atleast what the younger generation was about.  The idea was a much needed divertion for the boy and though his hurt wasn't gone completely, he did offere a smile again.  Maddock's grin was much like Cerri's a little crooked and definite signs of being up to no good even when he was being studious.
"What kind of adventure?"  He asked rather quickly before Adrian continued.  The boys interest was definitely perked.  Not only was this something he would certainly enjoy, but he was being invited aswell.  He liked it all ready.

"I think we might need some paper to make sure we don't get lost.  And a piece of charcoal."  Maddy was staring to head towards the fireplace to pickup a charred piece of wood that had plenty of drawing capability left.

Adrian couldn't believe the quick change in Maddock's demeanor. He had clearly gone form absolute gloom to smiling and showing excitement for what lay ahead of them. He was even a little surprised when the younger boy moved to the fire place and scooped up some charcoal for them to make their map with.

Setting his bag down on the table once more Adrian rifled through it until he had found a fresh roll of parchment for them to use. "So how are your drawing skills?" Adrian asked handing him the paper before repacking his bag and lifting it onto his shoulder. Before waiting for an answer. Adrian (who was beginning to think of himself as a captain of sorts who was leading the way for what was possible an epic adventure) walked to the sliding door that would start them on their awesome journey.

It was only when he had stepped beyond the common room that he realized that he had no idea where to go. He supposed however that it could not hurt to wonder around the area until they found what they were looking for or they decided to call an end to the search for the night.

Hoping that Maddock was following suit he began their journey with the first step. He knew that no matter what happened he would have quite alot to write home about after tonight. He also kept a mental note to start probing his new friend for information on his older sister.

How was his drawing skills?  That was a rediculous question.  Maddock was 11.  The best of his drawing skills surrounded the concept of stick figures and doodles.  He wasn't very good at drawing, but they were just going to be keeping track of where they've been and that they could come back, weren't they?  Maybe Adrian would be fine with just directions.

As Adrian searched around for a piece of parchment, Maddock went ahead and pulled a few more pieces of charcoal and dumped them all into his pockets.  He had to keep his hands as clean as possible.  How rediculous would it be if they were caught by Denman, roaming the halls unchapaeroned and Maddy's hands were filthy.  No doubt Denman would think the two of them were up to no good.  Maddy might get another bout of detention in that case.  Too much detention equalled points lossage.  And Maddy concluded that if the points went down too much because of him, he might just be bunted out of Hogwart's by his own firecrackers.

Maddy was just mere steps behind Adrian as he led the way.  The door was open and the hall's fires were lit, showing exactly where the two had been.  If anyone was following the two of them they would surely see exactly where they had gone.  The younger Slytherin was looking forward to this adventure with his older mentor and so far they were heading in a way he knew.  Maddy knew much of the Dungeon corridors from his own exploring, but he was not about to let Adrian know that.  No, that would best be saved for a moment when the older got them lost.
"Thank you for inviting me out."  Maddock finally said once they were out of earshot of anyone else that might have had issue with him.
"I should appologize too.  I came in in a foul mood.  But that was only because I had detention with Professor Penvellyn.  I can't believe she took points away from the House total AND gave me detention."  Anyone looking could see the determined frown on his face just thinking about it.
