A self-proclaimed expert on the topic of the lake monster, Alistair could only grin at Ellenore. “His name is George, actually, and I have yet to find something he doesn’t eat.” That was the way with monsters, you know. Then again, Alistair and Cerri hadn’t yet seen George or him doing anything, but as they had decided to claim the right to study him last year, and had the ability to go out above the lake when they wanted, he figured they were the most knowledgeable on the subject matter.
In the next moment, Alistair noticed a movement off to his left. He turned to see yet another girl walking toward them. Perhaps the whole school would be out on the grounds soon. And yet he knew this one already for he had seen her, in more or less the same unhappy manner as she was now, around his common room for the past several months. He could hazard a guess as to why, for she didn’t seem as happy as others on the night of the sorting ceremony – probably a third of the students were sorted where they didn’t think they would be. He himself had expected Gryffindor and was disappointed for a whole ten seconds before taking the seat amongst such a welcoming group.
“Come sit with us,” Alistair encouraged, scooting over so that Allison could sit next to him. He felt somewhat obligated to make the girl feel better as she was in his house. “We were just talking about the lake monster and Ellenore’s little brother.” At least, those were the two things Alistair remembered, which wasn’t saying much.

Allison felt immensly guilty for crying over being in such a welcoming house. As she came to sit with the others, she decided enough was enough. She was a hufflepuff whether her parents approved or not. Allison then tried to focus on being positive...but that focus was lost a few seconds later.
"Theres a...a lake monster!?! Allison asked in a shaky shrill voice that obviously showed how scared she was. Trying to relax she thought it was probably harmless...or so she hoped. Why would they have a dangerous creature at Hogwarts? Then again... maybe she would just stay out of the lake.

Seeing that the girl was so obviously shaken at the news of a lake monster, Adele decided to make things clear. "Now Alistair, I wouldn't go calling it a monster. It's simply an abnormally large squid."
Thinking of what Ellen said about the quid eating the History of Magic books, she laughed to herself. "Perhaps he gets the books from Denman!"
Adelaine was glad to see the Hufflepuff girl was no longer crying, though she still wondered what the matter was in the first place. She realized she hadn't introduced herself.
"I'm Adele," she said cheerfully, taking her seat on the soft grass once more. She pointed from person to person. "This is Treeboy, Alistair I believe? That's Ori, and this is Ellen. What might your name be?"

"I go by Allison, though some prefer to call me Allison Cassidy which is fine as well" Allison said smoothly. Everyone seemed kind, Allison hoped the didn't mind her butting into their conversation. A squid wasn't much better than a monster in Allison's mind, but at least she didn't have to worry about what exactly it was anymore. Allison looked over to Ori and Ellen whom had been quite thus far. Allison so hoped she wasn't being bothersome!

"Wouldn't be surprised if George got books from Denman." Ellen said. "But why is he in that lake?" Ellen asked.
George. The squid's name is George. Ellen thought. I'd think a squid more as a Bill, or a Geoffrey. Ellen laughed silently at the thought of the squid.
"Anywho... I guess I should introduce myself to you properly Allison. My name is Ellenore Clark, and it is a pleasure to meet you!" Ellen said cheerfully, offering a hand shake.
"Do you think Denman is aware that George eats school books?" She asked.
