The Personality
Emotional Disposition: Optimistic and inquisitive
Core Value: Wisdom
Positive Characteristics: Inquisitive, loyal, eager, determined.
Negative Characteristics: Not outgoing, lacks social skills, shy, finds making friends difficult, self-conscious
Conflict and hardship: Sometimes he finds it hard just to talk to people his own age, since he never had any luck making friends among the kids he lived near. His biggest challenge will be to get out there and meet people, since often they ridicule him and laugh behind his back. He knows that his sometimes overeager behavior when he learns something can make some people see him as obnoxious and annoying.
Motivation, Passion and Drive: He wants to learn as much as he can. He knows that there is an infinite amount of knowledge out there, and he wishes to learn as much of it as he can. However, he also wishes to become better around people, which has always been a goal of his. His first and foremost goal is to become wise.
Motto or catchphrase: Learning never hurt anyone!
Overall personality: He is very driven. When he sets his sights on a goal, if it isn’t impossible, he will achieve it. Many people may see him as obnoxious when he does this. He tends to be optimistic in general, but when he makes a mistake or doesn’t get what he wants, he gets very down on himself and has trouble digging himself out of his hole. He is usually a very confident person. He excels at academics, and finds learning easy, fun, and exciting. However, his social skills are somewhat lacking, and he often does or says things which are awkward or offensive without meaning to, which makes him a little shy when it comes to meeting others.. He has trouble making friends because of this, but when he does make them he is incredibly loyal. He is a goody-two shoes, and follows all rules unless he has an extremely good reason not to.
Diary Entry:
Dear Journal,
Well, yesterday was pretty uneventful, like most days. Papa woke me up at dawn, as usual, and had me clean up the shop before he opened for the day. Then I went back and helped mother with the chores; the usual round of dusting, cleaning, and cooking held as little appeal to me as it always did. However, as a treat, she let me go to the bakers to pick up the bread and get a small pastry as well. After finishing my chores, I went back to Papa’s store, where I fetched clothes and measuring tools for him and his customers. The shop closed at around 8 and we ate dinner together, before retiring to bed. My parents didn’t notice I had snuck up a candle and my book on magic history to my room, so I stayed up reading late again, until the candle burned out.
All in all, nothing out of the ordinary.

The Family History
Parentage: Orion’s father is Charles Cornelius Gray and his mother is Amanda Elizabeth Gray. His father is a muggle, and his mother is a mudblood with only small magical potential, whose greatest spells are those centered around housework and cooking. Both his parents are kind people, who are content in their situation and life. They encourage Orion however, and often buy him books on both magical and mundane matters. They are also very helpful in the community, always going out of their way to help those who need it.
Siblings: Orion has one older sister, Catherine Mary Gray. She is non-magical, but has no resentment towards Orion for inheriting the magical ability. She is fascinated with everything magical, but also is grounded firmly in the real world. He had two younger siblings as well, but they died as infants of a fever that his mother couldn't heal.
Other important figures: Orion’s cousin Max works in the Ministry of Magic, and is the only other wizard in his family. He often brings Orion magical books and items, and he teaches him the small amount of magic that he can when he visits.
Reputation: His father's clothes are well known, and sometimes even wealthy upper class men buy from him. The neighbors find Orion’s family very kind and generous, and they respect his family as leaders in the community. They know that if they have issues of almost any sort, they can come and ask for help, and Orion’s parents will give it. They do think that our house is a little strange (because of Amanda’s spells) but it is not enough to frighten them away.

Specific Questions for Halfbloods:
Who in your family knows about the magical world? My immediate family, as well as my cousin's immediate family knows about the magical world.
What explanation is given to the muggles in your family about your long absences while you are at Hogwarts? They are told that I am going to my cousin's to learn how to become a lawyer, which is his front in the muggle world.
How does your family combine muggle and magical elements, is your house obviously magical or do you keep stuff hidden? My family keeps things hidden, because they live in a all-muggle neighborhood. However, much of the cleaning, housework, and cooking is done by magic used by my mother. We tend to do many activities the old fashioned way however, because we don't know when we will be visited by a neighbor.
Has you character always known they were magical or did they worry they were a squib? My character made a light when he was the age of eight, because he wanted to read, but before then there was no magical indication. However, since no one else in his family had any magic, he hadn't been worried about his lack.
Does your character have any strong feelings (good or bad) about magic or is it just part of their life? It is just a part of his life, but his sister's fascination with it has made him feel good about being a wizard.
Student Skills:
School Ethic: My character has never been to school, but he has read a lot, and was taught some magic by his mother and his cousin, so he has some experience with magic. However, learning with other kids might prove difficult for him, because he is self-conscious and slightly shy, so speaking or demonstrating in front of others might be hard.
Teacher Relation: My character loves learning, so he respects all his teachers and will eagerly participate in all of their classes.
Work Ethic and Diligence: My character will work extremely hard, and he will probably do all of his homework and classwork to the best of his ability. He is a fairly good writer, and he works hard when he is enjoying himself. He will always finish an assignment, and usually won’t be distracted by anything.
Subjects: Orion will work as hard in all classes. However, he probably will not enjoy Herbology, since he has never been much good at plants, and History of Magic, because he prefers to focus more on what he sees as “practical” magic studies, such as Potions, Charms, and Transfiguration.
Where don't you want to be: Gryffindor, because he doesn't see himself as brave and his mother told him that was where all the strongest and bravest kids ended up.
