Her time at Hogwarts had been quiet, she usually spent most of her time in the gryffindor common room studying, or just holed up in the library. Izzy knew that she should be more social, but for some reason there was something missing for her. Yes her cousins were around but they had their own lives here. It seemed like everyone had their place in this huge castle, and she had yet to find hers. She was currently sitting by one of the windows a book in her lap, it was what she had been reading, before she looked up at the window. She caught sight of her reflection momentarily, it was as if the snow that was outside didn't exist. More like she was staring at a mirror and not a window. She stared at one spot, her brown eyes looking through the window as if waiting for the reflection looking back at her would speak. Her gaze started to become so focused on one particular spot, that nothing else was registering with her.
It happened quiet often, she would look at one spot and loose complete focus on what she was doing, and where she was. She wasn't sure how long she stared at that one spot, trying to make sense of the thoughts in her head. But at one point she heard a voice, it sounded far away at first. But the more she was brought back to reality the more clear the voice became. She snapped out of it, and she realized that there was someone standing next to her. She hadn't really caught what they were saying, she blinked slightly and the rest of the corridor came back into focus.
"I beg your pardon, did you say something?" her soft voice rang.

Toren was wandering the school with Paul. The two of them had been doing more exploring as of late now that the whole wildness of the school had died down in their minds. The two of them were coming near the first floor corridor when Matt came up to them and said, "Paul, did you forget about....?" He was trying to be cryptic with Toren about what they were going to do, and Toren dropped it because Paul had told him all about it.
Paul put on a face of, why are you ruining it, and said to Matt, "Of course not.. I was just about to come to the Owlery after me and Toren were done. And since we are done... Toren, I shall see you later." He looked at his good friend Toren and gave a small wink at him. He walked off with Matt leaving Toren alone.
Unsure as to what to do Toren walked around the corridors on the first floor until he came upon a figure just staring at the window. She had the look people told him he got when it rained. He began to wonder if he should bother her in this state, as he was sometimes irritable when people bothered him. Since for the most part he found the newer distraction to be nicer he decided to break her gaze and talk to her. After all, he had not spent much time talking to girls lately. While sure he had run into Eowyn nearly every day, she had become distant, and true he had talked to Sylver from time to time, but his days were surrounded with Paul and Matt.
He walked up to Isabelle and said, "I do believe you look rather bored... Would you like some company?" Apparently she was just as lost as he got, completely based on her reaction. As if she was becoming aware of his presence in slow motion. She asked him what he said, so he kindly repeated, "I was asking if you minded some company, seeing as you look bored."

"Oh" she realized.
She had looked like she was bored, after all only people with nothing to do allowed themselves to get so lost in a window. She closed the book in her hand, and placed it on the window sill, the last thing she wanted was to be rude to the young man who had approached her. She recognized him as one of her class mates, he was a hufflepuff, but she couldn't be sure of his name. It started with a T, but she couldn't be certain. She silently scolded herself for not remembering his name, she usually prided herself in being social and making friends but she had been quite different since her arrival at Hogwarts. She decided that now, she should start being more social.
"Of course I do not mind company" she smiled, "I am Isabelle Stanton, or you can call me Izzy if you'd like"
She knew that her name wasn't that big of a mouthful, but she usually felt that if people called her Isabelle it was because she was in trouble. She was pretty sure that the young man probably knew her name, but of course common courtesy made it so she had to offer it in case he did not. It would also help if he introduced himself, so that she would not feel like a complete ignorant fool for not knowing the names of her classmates. She kept her gaze on the boy, so that she would not let the window entrance her once more. Allowing yourself to become absorbed when you were alone was one thing, but if you did it in company, well that definitely was not proper.

With Izzy's, as she preferred to be called, introduction Toren gave his. Not only was it nice to reply with a name in kind, but if they already knew you, at least they would know you knew the simple rules of engagement. "I am Toren. I have seemed to notice an odd loss as to some of my classmates names as well. When in class you just get so used to hearing people getting called Mr. or Miss.. If it was not someone you talked to much, the name got lost. In any case, what is that you were reading?"
He realized he had probably just made an idiot out of himself, but it was true. They were more than halfway done with school, but he could only remember a small handful of his classmates names. He only remembered hers because of Paul mentioning her to him, something about looking like his sisters friend. He sat down on the windowsill as well, taking her answering him as her agreeing to him being there.

She agreed slightly that it was hard to remember your classmates names, especially since you were always being referred by your last name. She had actually been so accustomed to being called Miss Stanton that when someone called her Isabelle she usually didn't pay attention. She hoped that she would soon adjust to the idea of answering to both her first name, and then of course being called as Miss Stanton. Though her older cousins had once said that sometimes you were just referred by your last name, no Miss or Mister added. She smiled when he asked what she had been reading, and she looked down at the book. It was just a muggle book that she had been given by one of her cousins.
"It's a book by a muggle author, one of my cousins gave it to me before we came to Hogwarts. Truth be told I haven't really gotten into it, I tend to loose focus" she admitted.
She made sure to make room for him when he sat down, it was a good thing that window sills were so large at Hogwarts. She had always marveled at the idea that more than one person could sit down and admire the outside. She had a window seat in her room, back home, she had often enjoyed sitting there and just staring at the children playing below or at the moon up in the sky. She smiled at the thought, but was brought back to reality once again.

Toren was glad to hear he was not the only wizard who read muggle books. True, most of them were not meant for a young crowd, so it was easy to get lost, or confused, but some of the stories you could read were quite amazing. It was then, in this moment, that he began to notice just how unfair things were. For wizards that was. They could enjoy every part of life, only in seclusion, while muggles could enjoy all of their lives, as they so chose. It hardly seemed fair, but on the hand, the hand which Toren was not aware of, muggles could not experience half of what Wizards could.
"That is too bad. I have found some books to be nice reads. Most of them are about ancient times, long forgotten though. I did get a new book though. It is about voyages. And another is a book of short stories with a purposeful meaning to them. I have quite enjoyed the few moments I have had with those books." He missed the book he left at home, only one tenth of the way in. He understood though he liked it too much than was good for him, and he might have spent more time reading that, than reading his school books. And some of his school books, while dry and educational, still had great pictures, and taught him how to do spectacular spells.
