General Attitude
- We love Canon! We're a Harry Potter RPG and you are a wizard, so act like one! Try to solve your every day character problems with a little magic!
- We live in the 18th century. Life was different then, but we haven't all studied history, so we gathered some basic information to keep in mind while playing
- We're a school, and just as in a normal school, you can't control who you bump into, so don't ignore or exclude people that join your topic. It's not nice. In addition, please keep in mind that two people posting back and forth for a couple of hours without anyone else can make it very hard for the other players who are in the thread, be patient and give everyone a chance to reply.
- No Godmoding. The only thing you can control in this game is your OWN character. You can't decide anything for anyone elses character. Worse! If you throw a punch, it's up to the other character to decide if you actually hit them. You never know if they've learned how to duck!
- This is RP, not real life. We realize you might struggle with illness and problems in your real life, but we request you keep them out of this game. As well for your own sake, as the other member's sake.
Posting
Use grammar and spelling to your best ability in your posts. No netspeak or abbreviations.
Swearing/adult language is discouraged in the PG-rated areas. Obviously students at school swear, so keep it mild. PG-13 rated areas allow for more freedom, in both language and attitude, however realistic, extreme and persistent display of violence, language and sensuality is a no-go.
Per post, please use only 1, readable color. A second color may be used to indicate an NPC or an OOC message.
Posts do not require a specific length, so no min. word-count or amount of sentences is given. Instead, your post does need to contain a variety of material. It should tell readers where you are, what your character is doing, how they are feeling and maybe give some information about them or the situation they are in. In other words, enough so that anyone reading your post can picture the situation you're describing. Make something happen so that the next poster has something to reply to! You can find an example right here.
The use of NPCs in your posts is absolutely fine! There's older students, ghosts, family members... we're not actively playing all these people so feel free to use them in your play. Just try to avoid posts in which you only interact with an NPC, as it doesn't give the other players anything to reply to.
Topics
No Invite Only topics unless you've asked and received permission from a headmaster or professor.
We frown upon pre-plotting, because it takes the spontaneity out of the play, but also because it simply limits you if you've plotted every post out. Try to plot only in a general sense, where do you want to go with a topic, what does your character need? But don't get too frustrated if someone else joins your topic and pushes things in a different direction! That's also part of RP.
Don't be afraid to join a topic of someone you've never rp'd with before. Imagine everyone just starts their own topics and no one replies to them? Yeah that would suck.
Engagement, getting married and pregnancies are not suitable subjects for any topic. Nor are psychiatric illnesses, remember, keep personal problems off the forums.
