Seated in the most boring corner of the Great Hall (the question being...why was it so boring? Had it perhaps anything to do with Denman himself?) Harvey was able to see most of what was going on and had eyed the two other professors repeatedly, wondering if perhaps he should seek their company to alleviate some of the annoyance he felt with the evening. It was because of this he had a somewhat crooked view on Professor Penvellyn as she was hit in the back by what he assumed was egg. He quickly scanned the crowd behind her looking for the culprit, but the wretched students all seemed to look determinedly innocent. He couldn't be sure, though seeing some familiar face, had no trouble compiling a very short list of suspects. Some from his own house. A frown slid across his face as he thought of the possible housepoints this could cost his house. Perhaps he should... what did the woman do now?!

Harvey raised an eybrow as he followed Eleanors progress and engage conversation with young mister Sowerby, who didn't seem in any position for such a glorious hit. His curiosity now getting the better of him, Denman gathered his belongings and sauntered over in his uneven gait, his cane tapping away as he went.

Dani disguised her snickers with a coughing fit as Luka's egg actually hit Penvellyn's. Of course magic kept her from being eggy for long, but even better then she went to take Alexander out, hopefully to blame him. Perfect!

She giggled at his answer. "Anything? Really?" He probably would. Hanging around him would likely be a hazard to her health and her reputation, but she didn't think she would be able to stop herself. Luka Chancery was a thrill all on his own. She wouldn't even need to find fun things to do with him, he would be fun itself, as long as it wasn't aimed at her.

Then Luka turned, saluted, gave his poem and was gone, Dani laughing as he went. He was alright, for a Ravenclaw and a Mudblood. The worst two things you could be, yet he was the only person here she thought she might really be able to be friends with. She paused for a moment to think about it, but with a flick of her head, she gave that up. She would figure out what to do about that another day.

Of course now, she was back to being bored. She watched Denman hobble across the room faster than she thought he would ever move, then decided to make herself scarce. Alexander might decide to blame her, that was what she would do. Leaving would just look suspicious though, so Dani drifted over to a knot of older Slytherin girls getting drinks and poured herself some juice and took a plate to fill with suspicious looking sandwiches and tarts that were far too fancy.

Most culprits wouldn’t hand over their wand for inspection, and in doing so, Alexander put himself in favourable light of the professor. She went through with checking it anyway, and was pleased to see that he had not been the one to cause the mayhem. “I never expected it of you,” she told him fondly before standing back up. “Let us return, shall we?”

Just before reentering the Hall, Eleanor looked down at the boy. “If you should hear anything concerning the matter, please come to my office and speak with me. Certainly house points would be in order if you were a further asset in this matter.” She stepped back through the doors, but it seemed any disgruntlements caused by the mess had been resolved. Deciding it would be best to observe rather than dance, Eleanor moved to take up her post near the instruments and spent the rest of the night conducting the more elaborate dances. However before she made it there, Professor Denman had shuffled across the dance floor and seemed to be heading in her direction.

Good evening, professor. Leaving so soon?

It did not escape her notice that there was one trouble maker that no longer seemed to be of their number. It was true that he could have scampered back to the Ravenclaw tower out of boredom or tiredness, but the old professor made a mental note to keep an extra sharp eye on him over the next few weeks. She felt bad for the poor lad, as he had so little at home. However he wasn’t doing himself any favours in the way he behaved.

Cerri looked lovely in such a simple but lacey Easter dress.  It was not so formal that it invited the shimmering of moonlight, but it wasn't so casual to look plain either.  It was the perfect outfit to compliment her age and social position somewhere among the middle merchant class of her father's clock store.  Everything had been running her later and later.  She had been in an agrument with her brother earlier in the day, and that parchment essay was getting further and further behind with all the studying she was doing to complete it, as well as, her other assignments.  But she had told her friends she would be at the dance, and she wasn't about to let them all down and think she was unreliable.  Indeed not!  Especially since Alistair was going to be there.

As she walked in, everything was so cute and pastel.  There were well trimmed bows about and even cute little tiny bunnies.  The bunnies!  They must have been the cutest things ever created!  As she watched one hop about, it came right up to her as if to say hello and welcome her to the dance.  A precious little smirk rolled across her face as she reached down and picked him up.  The little bunny was white with a sprinkle of chocolate patches across his back.  The little bunny was just small enough to fit into the palm and wrist of her hand.  Almost instinctively she found that soft spot between the bunny ears and gravitated towards it with the most darling of little scritches to calm the hyper creature down.

Finally about to think about why she was there, she looked around and saw Maddy looking suspiciously up to no good.  She gave him a rather scolding scowl.  Off to the side was Joe sitting alone.  He looked entertained but lonely.  And then over there, dancing together was Allison and Alistair.  They definitely did not look lonely!  As much as she hated to announce it a small flit of jealousy washed over her.  The girl with the pretty dress and the golden blonde locks....and the shoes!  Don't make the girl think about the shoes.  Hers were quite nice slippers that seemed to be made for dancing.  Not able to see all of them, she guessed they were probably adorned in gems and gold, too!  Oh, the green-eyed beast was finding a nice and comfortable home within her!

Cerri took a deep breath and recomposed herself.  Now even the dance was going sour for her.  Was there no end to this day?  She thought to herself. Finally after moments of insanity gripped her, she decided quickly it was not worth being bothered over.  If they wanted to dance with each other they should.  A sudden thought fell over the girl when she realized she had been assuming Alistair would be sitting alone enjoying a glass of cool chocolate.  Did she really think of herself that highly, that he would be waiting for her?  That was certainly the wrong way to think and to cure that she was going to stride right over to Joe and keep him company!  That's right.

She moved with decision and purpose, now knowing exactly what she needed to do instead of wonder about looking for people.  She gave a quick wave and a friendly smile.  But before she could say a thing, an egg exploded.  The noise was large.  And like shrapnel the contents of the egg exploded about the room.  Not only did Penvellyn get hit, but she did too.  Right sqare in the chest.  Her dress was now ruined and covered with magical color changing sprinkles of notoriety.  How does one keep their composeur after that?

Quick eyes turned on her.  Cerri couldn't tell if they were shocked or amused by the moment, perhaps it was a bit of both.  But one thing was for certain, She could hear Maddock Glynn's decernable laugh from where he stood.  This was certainly something he would do, especially after that argument...to get back at her for being the older sister she was.  Its a shame when you have to tell your brother that you are about to go to the professor and explain how the boy received such a high mark on a test when he clearly didn't study for it.

But again...how does one not feel totally embarressed by something like this especially when youre brother knowingly and purposefully ruined your day.  Cerri stood there for a moment or two staring in a deadlock of glares at her brother.  She KNEW he had done it, and he KNEW she thought such a thing and he was defiant he didn't do it at all.

(just throwing it out there...by all means feel free to make Maddy the object of punishable desire, since Luka left quite nicely I might add.  I'll be happy to have Maddy be the fall guy and take the blame.  Cerri all ready blames him...heh heh heh.  Great arc for him, and a possible thread opportunity between Luka and Maddy too!!)

Maddock Glynn, the poster boy of the Slytherins (in attitude, not Study Smertz) was too busy to notice his sister walk in.  He was all ready busy rigging a bow string to a girls lacey collar.  That way when she walked away the bow untied itself and the bouquet above fell and hit someone below.  It was simple, it was joksterish...it was not what was about to happen.  Just to make sure no one was catching on to his gimmick, the boy looked around to no one's surprise but his sister stairing him down with a scowl.  That arguement earlier was over and done with.  He knew what he had done and he knew she had caught him redhanded.  As much as he tried to fight it, he knew she was right.  But he didn't mind letting her think he was still "innocent" a little while longer.

He caught his sister's glance and felt the guilt of family squablles, but he didn't know it.  feeling guilt was different than showing it, and right now he was a statue in that regard.  He turned back to his little trick and finished by stuffing the end of the bow into her collar.  Oh the jest was perfect!  cerri walked away, the girl he was pranking walked away, and Maddy just smiled as the bow unwraveled itself along the twisted ties of the column.  But it was like fate clued in.  At that moment, a loud pop was audible.  This wasn't his doing.  Quickly he turned to see what the matter was.

There was Cerri standing there looking as bothered as ever.  He knew his sister well.  That look of fear holding through the deep breath and the little clinching of her jaw...she was quite upset and by the looks of her dress, Maddy knew exactly why.  His deep colored velvetine suit didn't look a thing like hers, mostly because boys clothing was completely different than girls.  But he could sense it.  He felt it.  The hairs on the back of his neck stood on end.  She was staring at him.  Maddy being the boy that he was stared back.  He knew exactly what she was thinking and he was going to silently state the obvious back to her.  Being Siblings has its benefits, mostly when you don't need to speak to one another to know what their thoughts are.

I DIDN'T DO IT!  He mentally shouted across the room to her as he stood there, his arms crossed now looking defensive.
