Conflict and hardship: Jamie was pretty much conflict free until her biological father entered her life. Now she finds herself with a whole new family that wants something out of her and she is quite unwilling to give it. Deep down she’s afraid her step-father will decide he doesn’t want her anymore now that her biological father has claimed her. Otherwise, she hasn’t really mastered any basic charms her peers from wizarding families know. Until school it was an annoyance, but she’s afraid once she gets to Hogwarts everyone will realize she’s no good at magic.
Motivation, Passion and Drive: To show that she’s better than the Cruz family and that her family is better than them.
Motto or catchphrase: It varies from day to day from things like “Adventure is just around the corner!” to “No guts, no glory”.
Her personal motto that she would never mention to anyone is: Courage is not the absence of fear. Courage is standing up and acting fearless.
Overall personality:
Growing up in a houseful of boys, Jamie is a bit of a tomboy. It was keep up or get left behind, no one slowed down for her. That suited Jamie just fine, from an early age her motto was keep up or die trying. She didn’t die, so we can only assume she did keep up.
That led to a certain amount of stubbornness on her part. A certain large amount. She’s bull headed, there’s no doubt about it. Generally her attitude is her way or the high way, she’s a leader and a very bossy one. She has no patience for people with weak personalities who allow themselves to be bullied. If you’re trying, she will help you, but she refuses to do things for people or enable them to lay down and get run over. On the flipside she hates bullies and often would go up against them. Encouraged by her older brothers, she became quite the brawler, oftentimes abandoning magic in favor of settling things with her fists. At first her brothers, Caden and Seth, just thought it would be funny to take their sweet baby sister and unladyify her, but as time went on she became their undisputed back up who they picked over the other boys.
Jamie is often underestimated because of her size and the fact that she’s a girl. It makes her crazy, because she wants to be as good as anyone. She isn’t particularly talented at magic which also upsets her, she works twice as hard as everyone to make up for it. Above all she wants to be recognized for what she can do, not who she’s related to. She hates cheaters and even if she is willing to lie for herself or her friends, she would never do that or cover up for it. She loathes people who don't work hard, especially when they have as much or more than her. She also hates when things are unfair.
Jamie is brave and never knows when to stop. She’ll often rush headlong into things and only stop to consider a plan after the fact, if she does at all. She’s very impatient and horrible at waiting. She’s also very energetic, without a doubt she’s nursing some crazy scheme or other at any given moment and rushes headlong into trouble for something to do. She’s rash and sometimes irresponsible, but at heart she isn’t a bad person. She can be very kind and she’s loyal to her friends and family, she never hesitates to jump into the fire herself to help them if they need it and she's never met a challenge she wouldn't try to beat. She does tend to judge quickly and harshly, and she’s very blunt, but she doesn’t go out of her way to upset people and she hates those who do. She thinks anyone can change themselves if they try, although she doesn’t think most will bother. She dislikes lazy people and snobs.
She is a bit proud and has a hard time admitting her mistakes. She also takes time to trust people with secrets, like the fact that she worries she isn’t magical enough for Hogwarts. She’s desperate to prove herself and willing to do what ever it takes, especially to show up her Cruz siblings, Daniella and Alejandro. Above all she wants to prove that Pureblood isn’t everything and that she’s as good as everyone else. She dreams big, but would be too embarrassed to admit that to anyone, things like her private motto she keep absolutely secret. At heart she's a bit of a romantic, in the sense that she thinks of things in lofty terms, like she comes from a fantasy story. She's also somewhat obsessed with Camelot. The court, knights, and ladies have captured her imagination and she rather likes the idea of chivalry. She can be very thoughtful if the mood strikes her and she really wants to do something great and be well known for it. She’s terrified of living life being ordinary or average and then being promptly forgotten.
Growing up in Hogsmeade she was always in sight of Hogwarts and couldn’t wait for her turn. Her brothers even snuck her inside once to show her the Gryffindor common room. They were caught and both punished. Jamie also is well acquainted with all the lands surrounding the area. She and her brothers would often camp overnight in mountain caves and they roamed where ever they wanted, giving her a love of the outdoors.
Diary Entry:
I’ve never bothered to keep a diary, but now I think I have to. I have to tell someone, Caden and Seth are too angry, Mum is crying, and Daddy, I don’t know yet. So I have a book. Wonderful.
Today I went to visit my father. I didn’t want to, but Mum made me, she said I had to meet my siblings sooner or later. Father himself came to the pub the first time and Daddy wasn’t happy about it one bit. Of course I’ve seen both of my new siblings from a distance, the brother has even been in the pub and he’s a loud, brutish, mean boy.
My new step-mother hated me on sight. The feeling was mutual. My new sister, Daniella followed the suit, but what can you expect from a Slytherin? Alejandro ignored me for the most part which was fine. The baby, Selena, seems sweet, although I don’t know how she manages it in that house. It’s nothing like home, which is fun and full of laughter. It was mean. Cold.
I don’t care who my blood belongs to, I will not be a Cruz. I am a Butler. Daddy told me so, before I left. When I go to Hogwarts in a few months I will have to see Daniella and Alejandro, but I will not be in Slytherin. I swear I will go home if they put me in Slytherin and I will go to Durmstrang or Beauxbaton instead!
The Appearance
First Impression: A stringy girl that doesn’t have much to her. She would be easy to overlook if not for her fiery red hair and big mouth.
On Second thought..: Don’t overlook her. Not a good thing. She won’t be happy.
Overall Appearance: Jamie is very skinny, despite constantly being fed and being a big eater. She has a stringy look, but she’s not unhealthy. She has dark red hair that she usually puts up because it gets on her nerves and green eyes. Her face has a band of freckles across her face and she’s very pale. She’s on the short side and it annoys her to no end.

Reputation: The Butlers are an odd family. They were a Pureblood family, but they have the habit of marrying Muggle-borns and Half-bloods. Jamie’s immediate family is known as the family who owns the pub filled with children who are relatively well behaved. Most of the time. They work hard and generally people like them.
Secrets: No big ones. Jamie didn’t know who her biological father was until recently, but her step-father knew and she does now.
General:
Jamie was born out of wedlock which was a scandal in itself. Her mother, Adriana, got involved with Juan Cruz just after she graduated school. She didn’t know who he was or that he was married at the time, but when she found out she left without telling him she was pregnant.
Adriana returned to her parent’s house and had her baby who she named Jamisetta. When Jamie was two, Adriana met Gareth Butler. The two began courting and when they got serious, introduced Jamie to his two sons whose mother had died a few years before. Jamie hit off with Caden and Seth right away and they consider each other family.
Gareth owned the pub and inn in Hogsmeade and when Adriana and he got married, she and Jamie moved in. She had a nice childhood, she and the twins got along really well. They wanted a sister and were happy to let her tag after them. Two more brothers followed. Jamie also got along very well with Gareth. He considered her his daughter and changed her name to his when he married her mother.
When Jamie was getting ready to enter Hogwarts, her biological father found out about her existence and demanded to see her. Gareth and Adriana didn’t want him to, but they couldn’t stop him. Jamie disliked the entire Cruz family except for Selena who she thought seemed okay. She refused point blank to change her name to Cruz, but she did have to add the family Maria as a second middle name, although she never uses it. Juan has since taken an interest in her, even trying to pay her school bills. Gareth refused, no daughter of his would take charity. He would pay for her himself.
Jamie differentiates heavily between her Butler relatives and her Cruz relatives. Caden, Seth, Gary, and Lucas are all her brothers. Gareth is Daddy, Juan is Father. Her step-mother especially dislikes her, as does her half-sister Daniella. Jamie has no interest in them and doesn’t want to have anything to do with any of them.

Who in your family knows about the magical world? The only people who do not know are her mother’s extended family. Jamie isn’t particularly close to them though so it’s not a big deal for her.
What explanation is given to the muggles in your family about your long absences while you are at Hogwarts? Vague references to school.
How does your family combine muggle and magical elements, is your house obviously magical or do you keep stuff hidden? Living in Hogsmeade, Jamie’s house is quite obviously magical. There are always brooms and other magical objects laying around. She’s been exposed to quite a bit of magic in the pub and they’ve always had owls, as well as her step-father’s crup.
Has you character always known they were magical or did they worry they were a squib? Jamie always had magic, it would burst out at the most inopportune moments, but she still has absolutely no degree of control over it, even with her parents and brothers trying to help her. She’s terrified that she isn’t magic enough.
Does your character have any strong feelings (good or bad) about magic or is it just part of their life? She wants to be good at it and sometimes feel like she doesn’t have enough, that she might be almost a squib.
Student Skills:
School Ethic: As her mother was a Ravenclaw, Jamie grew up with an emphasis on school. She doesn’t like it very much herself, but she does work at it because her parents want her to and she wants to prove herself.
Teacher Relation: It depends. Jamie does try to behave, but sometimes teachers just beg to be argued with.
Work Ethic and Diligence: She wants to succeed under her own power and so works very hard, especially in areas she isn’t good at. She doesn’t like to do it, but she does.
Subjects: She interested in everything really, she really wants to learn how to do all kinds of magic although she isn’t good at it. She would like Care of Magical Creatures a lot and dislike History of Magic.
Where don't you want to be: Slytherin. As her biological father is pushing it and her half-siblings are in it, Jamie is bound and determined to be anywhere else.
