[The Sorting Hat]

Hello Tom Riddle,  Welcome to DMRP. You've made it to the Introduction forum where we're very happy to see you! Is Tom Riddle the name you want to give your character? If not, please post with the full name of the character you wish to play, so we can change your Display Name for you. Once you've familiarized yourself with the forum and your fellow students, and your account has been approved, you'll promote to the rank of Apprentice. This will enable you to post in the out-of-hogwarts areas of the forum such as Diagon Alley and In the Country. Hello and welcome to DMRP

Unfortunately, one of the first things we MUST ask is that you change your name. We don't allow canon characters and calling yourself Tom Riddle is about as canon as you can get. It would offer you no benefit anyway as this game is set 200 years before the books so you would gain no prestige whatsoever from the name. If you could therefore please choose another name for your character, and one of our admins will adjust your display name accordingly. Your login name will still be the one you signed up with.

After you have posted in this thread, which I hope you will do soon, we will be assured of your humanity and that you are not a bot. After that someone will bump you up to 'apprentice' so you can work on a character card. Just starting a new thread in the 'character cards' area will present you with a template you can use to complete and post your card.

In the mean time feel free to look around the forum and the rules, familiarise yourself with our site. You will find confirmation of what I said about canon names in the forum rules.

There is a sorting stop in effect at the moment as we are nearing the end of the current game year. Once all the kiddies have been kicked out of Hogwarts for the summer though, the sorting hat will return. You shouldn't have to wait more than a couple of months at most.

P.S., Declan Hale/Tom Riddle,
The section on the side underneath your character's name and soon-to-be-picture, where it says "Player Name" -- that's where your real name goes. And if you aren't comfortable with putting your real name there, just put what you'd like to be called. That way no one starts calling you Tom Riddle.
