The Basics:

Posted Image

Full Character Name: Philomena Grace Fernsby.
Likes to be called: Mena or Ferny but only by close friends and family. Just Philomena to everyone else.
Birthdate: 7th January
Age: 11
Residence: Isle of Wight, between Ryde and Pembridge. Lives in a grand and large mansion, as secluded and as far away from the Muggle towns and villages as possible. Right on the coast, the mansion has a perfect sea view. Previously lived in Westminster, London but family preferred to keep to itself and not be surrounded by people.
Blood: Pureblood.
Social Class/father’s occupation: Father is a world renowned Potioneer, has invented many famous and useful potions. Upper class, privileged and very rich (With father’s job and mother being from an old money pureblood family.)

The Personality

Emotional Disposition: Reflective, a thinker, is a little unsure of herself, contemplates often.
Core Value: Secretive. (Sly would also be very appropriate) ((I know that’s not very useful, all I can say is, she’s a bit of a complex character.))
Positive Characteristics: Driven, Ambitious, charismatic, highly intelligent, witty, good sense of humour, cautious, thinks before acting, can be friendly (if she want to be) Slightly shy if she doesn’t know you.
Negative Characteristics: Conceited (although it may be an act?) fiery temper on her, (I said she thinks before she acts but if her temper gets the better of her (rarely does) she will become impulsive and reckless), selfish, will do whatever it takes to get what she wants, rude, likes to make people feel inferior to herself, elitist, sarcastic to a mean degree, day dreams often and she likes to gossip about others.
Conflict and hardship: Family has many dark secrets. Parents show her no love. Has been fairly isolated her entire life, leading her to be shy but also raised to believe she is better than others. (not in a wizarding blood sense, just better than other people in general.) Doesn't know how to be among her peers.
Motivation, Passion and Drive: Philomena is extremely driven, in just about everything, life’s one big competition to her and she better win! She doesn’t necessarily have one goal in her life, she just wants to be powerful, known and important. She aims to do well in all she does.
Motto or catchphrase: The people who excel are those who are driven to show the world, and prove to themselves, just how good they are.

Overall personality: Philomena is quite a confusing person really. She is actually fairly shy and unsure of whom she is, yet she can massively over compensate and can act arrogant and conceited. She is hard to work out. Shy, but no shrinking violet, she will not allow herself to be pushed around and is very sarcastic, she likes to use her words and intelligence to hurt. Philomena is highly intelligent and ambitious, she will do anything to get what she wants, literally anything. Very power-hungry. Friendly if she wants to be, charming if she needs to, Philomena is the kind of person who changes hugely depending on situation, she can become whoever she needs to be to get what she wants, makes her a person you probably shouldn’t trust openly. A social chameleon. If you can manage to get to know the real Philomena you will find out she can actually be very kind and has a wicked sense of humour and a liking for mischief.
Diary Entry: Dear Diary,
I got my Hogwarts letter today, I leave for Hogwarts in September and I cannot wait. I will miss Nanny Florence but apart from that, I feel as if I’ve outgrown home, I’ve learnt all I can here and it’s time for me to continue my education and further myself.  Mother is still trying to convince me that Durmstrang would be a much better place to learn but personally, I can’t see it, Hogwarts tend to produce much better wizards and witches. The only bonus of Durmstrang is the Dark Arts, I bet I could learn that myself at Hogwarts...I’ll have to see. It’s very exciting really, such a good opportunity, cannot wait to see which house I’m placed in, I’m quite unsure myself, I’ve got a rough idea though, see if the hat agrees with me!

The Appearance

First Impression: A prim and proper young lady, probably very wealthy and high class, immaculate clothes and appearance, not a hair out of place. Seems stuck up and full of own self-importance by the way she walks and holds herself.
On Second thought..: Still clearly wealthy and full of own self-importance but perhaps she is not as prim and proper as she seems. Her dresses are not the same as all her sisters are and she is more colourful and is trying to have her own style. Perhaps not like all the rest.
Overall Appearance: Very pale, milky white skin but a healthy white that seems to glow, she would love to have an exotic tan however. Big, doe eyes, which are bright amber in colour. Very long, down to the waist, straight, glossy cherry brown hair. Philomena is never allowed to have her hair down though, either up in a tight bun style or in ringlets. Has a slight and slender build. Thick but perfectly sculpted eyebrows, long eye lashes and big full rosy red lips. Dislikes her ears, thinks they are too big and is self conscious about that fact her hair is always up and shows off her ears more. Wears very expensive clothes which are always the height of fashion (picked by her mother) and she also tends to wear a lot of jewellery, for instance, her trade mark pearl earrings.

Basic Skills:

Can your character:
Read: Yes, extremely well, loves literature and often reads for fun.
Write: Yes, a well educated and fluent writer.
Handle Money: Not very well at all, doesn’t know the true value of money, is too spoilt and never worries about the price of things or saving etc.

The Family History

Parentage: Father: Mordecai Fernsby- Potioneer and previous Ravenclaw. Always at work, very serious man, not particularly fatherly.
Mother: Beatrice Fernsby (nee: Burke) Rich pureblood family, no job of her own and previous Slytherin. Appears to be motherly to public but in fact has no interest in her children, treats them like dolls and uses them to make herself look better to people. Not motherly at all.
Siblings: Large family. 2 sisters, 2 brothers. Interestingly, the majority of siblings so far have went to Durmstrang instead of Hogwarts, family think it is a better school mainly due to the teaching of Dark Arts.
Betram Fernsby- 16, currently at Durmstrang, not close.
Lenora Fernsby- also 16, twin with Betram. Attends Durmstrang, not close.
Chastity Fernsby-14, attends Hogwarts, 4th year. Slytherin student, Philomena is closest to Chastity out of all siblings.
Gabriel Fernsby- 9, home schooled. Fairly close as they were home schooled together and closest in age but Philomena found her little brother to be very bratty sometimes.
Other important figures: Nanny that lives with the family and has taught and looked after all the children. Nanny is named Florence Jones, kind, caring, a little stern and magically able. Went to Hogwarts, so she prepared Philomena for Hogwarts from young, closest thing to a mother she has ever had. Will miss her most of all. Nanny Florence was a Hufflepuff. Philomena was not supposed to know this but Florence told her, trying to make sure Philomena did not end up biased towards any house. Her mother had always cemented in her head that Slytherin was the best house and only house for her children.
Reputation: Respected by other magical families, purebloods especially. Rich, well off, classy and everything purebloods are expected to be. Family has been known to mix with dark arts and have gotten in trouble for using magic to hurt and torment others, Muggles mostly. Father has also received criticism as much of his potions work revolves around hurting and affecting others rather than antidotes and cures for things.
Secrets: Father had an affair with a Muggle woman, mother found out and framed the woman for crimes she did not commit, got her hanged. Philomena was not supposed to know but she is rather sneaky and overheard many arguments and conversations. 2 uncles are in Azkaban for killing Muggles; whilst family doesn’t necessarily disapprove they still don’t like attention drawn to the family. Sister Lenora is actually pregnant (and not married obviously) and will not be coming back from Durmstrang to live with the family, she has been disowned and Philomena will never see her sister again.
General: The Burke family (mother’s side) that have attended Hogwarts, have all been Slytherins for generations.

The Wizard Information:

Wand: 12 ½ inches, Silver Lime, Dragon heartstring core, rigid.
Pet: Female Burmese cat called “Pearl”, has cream fur with dark brown fur on her tail, paws and ears and has golden eyes.

Specific Questions for Purebloods:

Are there any magical items in your house, how about a house elf? The Mansion is filled with magical items; magic has always been an accepted and normal part of Philomena’s life. Philomena is a fair flyer and has had her own broom since she could walk. Family did have house elves, to clean the mansion and cook the meals. Philomena was hardly friendly with them but never ill treated them, unlike most of her family. Her sister, Chastity also never hurt a house elf, neither did Nanny.
How strict were your parents in enforcing no underage magic? Not strict at all! It was practically encouraged and Philomena already knows a fair few curses, hexes, jinxes and charms!  Philomena was unsure why her parents encouraged this at first, she realized later that they wanted her to be ahead of her peers.
Are there any spells which are used a lot by your parents? Everyday spells to help them live their lives, very used to automatically using magic in situations. Spells like the summoning charm, cleaning charm and fire making charm amongst many more are all used regularly.
Has you character always known they were magical or did they worry they were a squib? Never ever thought about being a Squib! It’s insulting to imagine it. Always knew she was magical, especially as she was encouraged to practice magic young.
Does your character have any strong feelings (good or bad) about magic or is it just part of their life? Could not imagine a life without magic. Makes her feel superior to Muggles (feels superior to near enough everyone anyways) but she does not feel the need to hurt them like people she knows do. She just pities them from afar. Likes the power and opportunities magic gives you too. Finds all magic fascinating, especially the Dark Arts, it’s not like she wants to use it but she does think it’s highly interesting and could be possibly useful one day.

Student Skills:

School Ethic: Home taught by Nanny. Thinks work and education is important because it helps you get ahead in life and the more you know, the further you go. Sees knowledge as a powerful tool. Also just loves learning new things and likes to think of herself as rather intelligent.
Teacher Relation: Most likely respect teachers because it is no use having them as enemies in her view. Very charming and likes to win everyone round for her own gain. Will probably behave well in class as to impress the professors but will not be a goody-goody swot so as to alienate herself from her peers. Acts how she needs to act in situations. Will always listen and do her work to a high standard.
Work Ethic and Diligence: Philomena is a very driven person and wants to succeed in everything she does. She likes being top. So she will try very hard in all her subjects unless she sees reason not to. (Subject is boring, for instances or she does not place value on it) She is then likely to mess around. Also, she is prone to completely giving up if she is not as good as the other, does not like to fail. Luckily she is quite able. Can write very well and is well-spoken with good grammar, spelling and vocabulary.
Subjects: Obviously as her father is a Potioneer, Philomena is highly interested and likely (she believes) to be skilled in Potions. Is also interested in Defence Against the Dark Arts as she thinks it may help her learn more about the Dark Arts them self. Thinks History of Magic will be very boring and is unlikely to try to hard in that subject. If Philomena is interested, she is determined to do her best and be the best but if she has no interest she is likely to only give as much effort as is required to not get in trouble!
Where don't you want to be: Has thought long and hard about this, since she does have prior knowledge of the Hogwarts houses and why you get put in each of them. Can never see herself in Gryffindor, she is in no way chivalrous and always thinks of herself first. Has quite a Slytherin view of Gryffindors. Although you’ll never catch her admitting it, she is not brave either, not in the way Gryffindors are supposedly brave anyway. Doubts she would be a Hufflepuff either. Does not possess patience and has never learnt loyalty, as said before, always looks out for herself.
