Cold and morning, not two of Harveys favorite events. It was perhaps because of that he floated along on his flying carpet muttering to himself, barely avoiding completely stationary objects along the way.
One look at the tired old man tells you exactly how stubborn he is, for he is trailing a long line of mismatching odd shaped pillows behind him. Perhaps you could also say he was foolish, for what wizard would fly through the halls of Hogwarts trailing pillows that could easily have been bewitched into smaller size, or transported from one location to another by the abundance of house elves working around the castle?

How much trouble would she get in for riding her broomstick through the halls? Daniella was about to find out. Okay, in theory it wasn't her broomstick. She would have brought her own, but she was worried it would be confiscated. Besides, she had a much better solution, Alejandro's. They were both in Slytherin and while boys couldn't sneak into the girls' dorms, girls could get into the boys' which meant it was a simple matter to sneak up and borrow her brother's broom when no one was in the dorm.
Grinning from ear to ear, Dani reached an empty hall and mounted up. She could do this outside, sure, but where would the fun be in that? The challenge was avoiding people and breakables. Or breaking things. That was all part of the fun.
Dani kicked off and zoomed through the corridor, barely resisting the urge to shriek with glee. She whipped around a corner, taking it faster than was wise and found herself face to face with a pillow also whipping through the air. She yelped as it smacked into her face and her broom nose dived. Dani pulled it up, threaded through the waving pillows and then she saw what they were attached to, a flying carpet, with the absolute crankiest professor in the whole school aboard.
Uh-oh.

Harvey pulled up his carpet a bit to avoid flying straight into a tall seventh year when he heard a little commotion coming from right behind him. Without thinking, he briskly turned his carpet around, making the trail of pillows sway through the corridor, slamming into anything in their way in order to make the turn. Feathers littered the floor when two speared themselves on the halberd held up by one of the suits of armor.
Eyes narrowed as he scanned the chaos unfolding for the culprit, it quickly became clear what was the cause of the disturbance. I'll make this one regret waking up this morning, Harvey thought with a wicked grin on his face, looking disapprovingly at the first year. "Well, what do you have to say for yourself, girl?"

"Well Professor, if I had known you would be here I would have picked another hall." The words slipped out of her mouth before Dani had time to think of an answer. On the bright side, at least it didn't seem like she was trying to think up a convincing lie. On the other hand, Denman might count that as backtalk, some of these professors were so picky about the way students spoke to them. If she had wanted to deal with that she could have stayed home with Stephenie and her parents!
She scrambled to make up for her answer. "You see Professor Denman, I know you ride around on your carpet and since you're my favorite professor-" cough lie cough -"I thought I would give it a try too. Only you see, I don't have a carpet." She shot him a winning smile. That seemed to work better on the younger teachers, and. Denman was such an old miserable codger, practically ancient. Dani rather thought he kept himself alive just to spite everyone.

The other students in the corridor had now gathered around to watch what was going on, leaning against the walls and chatting excitedly with each other, pointing at the young Slytherin girl and the old professor still floating on his carpet.
"Move along now, go to your lessons," Harvey barked at the bystanders while landing his carpet and leaning heavily on his cane to hoist himself upright. People started to move out of the way, Professor Denman was not someone to lightly disobey and anyone who had been at Hogwarts for longer than a day knew it.
He aimed his wand at the long line of pillows now lying around and they started neatly stacking themselves against the wall.
Having taken care of the immediate business, he turned to Daniella Cruz. "Lets see where to start," he growled. "Five points from Slytherin in the hope you shall remember better manners next time. Where did you get that broom?"

They were gathering an audience now. Great. Just what she needed. Dani gave them dirty looks, especially the knot of Gryffindor girls she had gotten into an argument with the other day. Stupid Mudbloods. What did they know anyway? She would charm her way out of trouble, but she wasn't going to be able with all these imbeciles gaping like fish out of water.
They eventually all went away and Dani turned back to Professor Denman, charming, innocent expression back on her face. When he started she thought it might not be bad, but then he started taking points and her face fell. "Professor, no one ever said we couldn't ride brooms inside," she pointed out, working very hard to keep the scowl off her face. She wasn't entirely sure she succeeded. "It's my brother's," she said sulkily. She couldn't get in trouble for that at least. No one needed to know she had borrowed it without position. Alejandro certainly wouldn't complain. It would make him look bad if his eleven year old sister could steal his things.

"Well well," Harvey smirked as he looked down on the girl. "Still with the attitude, but we'll deal with that in a minute." He knew exactly what to do with mouthy little liars, as he suspected Dani wasn't entirely truthful. Something in the defiant girl put him on guard to watch her very carefully, no matter how much charm she tried to put in that smile. Harvey had been a teacher for most of his long life, he had seen it all.
"Accio broom," he finally said. "I think I'll better make sure your brother will get his property back unharmed."
((OOC: left it there because writing the outcome of accio would be godmoding, though good luck finding a way around it

Attitude. Humph. You tell the truth and they say you had an attitude. This was why Dani didn't like adults. They were all such sticks in the mud, especially these professors. They were just in charge of all the students and charged with keeping them in line, it wasn't such a big deal. Why couldn't they just leave them to their own devices.
Still, she fought to keep the scowl off her face, no so much because she cared what he thought, he had probably already formed a less than flattering opinion, but because she didn't want a detention. Dani had better things to do than detention, especially if he thought he was going to give her menial labor. Ugh. It was completely barbaric some of the things they made them do, like common house elves!
Then he just had to go and summon her broom. Still astride it, it was a bit of a nasty surprise as it flew one way and she fell another. She hadn't been too high up, but she still had to pick herself up off the ground, a string of curses in Spanish and English rushing through her head. "I was going to take it back to him," she said. "Sir," she added as an afterthought.
