[Caralee Goodbook]

Caralee hastily took a bite of the delicious apple pie that had appeared before her at the start of lunch.  It wasn't often that she had a carving for sweet things, but lately, her sweet tooth had been acting up.  Cara glanced up and down the Hufflepuff table, wondering where her friends could possibly be.  She shrugged her shoulders, and went back to eating.  
"Goodness!" a voice scolded teasingly behind her. "Slow down on that pie, girl! You don't want to choke, now, do you?"

Alexander and a fourth year Slytherin named Roger Kartheiser walked into the Great Hall for lunch. They walked in silence as they passed by the subdued Hufflepuff table which was rather empty, but than again they had entered lunch late and undoubtedly most of the other students had already finished their lunch by than. Just as Alexander saw croquettes on the table and was eager to start on his, Roger's deep drawl startled him.

"Goodness!" he said, Alexander knew that this was not going to go well. Usually he liked to pick on first years and was rather unrelenting about it. "Slow down on that pie, girl! You don't want to choke, now, do you?"

Alexander was about to say something for Roger to drop it, but the boy turned around and walked toward the Slytherin table his cold mocking drawl following him. "Let's get something to eat before this gluttonous Hufflepuff eats everyones lunch"

Alexander stood his ground. He pursed his lips, feeling a bit awkward. "I'm sorry about him, he's a prat like the majority of my house mates."

Elisabet had finally finished a particularly good book she had been reading, when she noticed the time.
"Oh my goodness!" she exclaimed and rushed out of Ravenclaw tower and down towards the Great Hall.
Seeing Alex at the Hufflepuff table she walked over to say hello and heard him apologizing to a girl sitting at the table. That was what she liked about him, he was always so kind and polite, not many boys were like that, not that she had met many boys. It was also the reason she was excited he was distracted with his back towards her, easy to sneak up on
Now is my chance! Elisabet thought, I can finally surprise him

Slowing down to creep up on Alex, she quietly approached and shouted "BOO!"once she was close enough, laughing and totally pleased with herself for surprising Alex, Elisabet turned toward their seated companion.
"Hi!, my name is Elisabet." she said, holding out her hand, "Its very nice to meet you. I sure hope Alex has been behaving himself.

Cara turned to see who was talking just as the speaker made another snide comment.
"Let's get something to eat before this gluttonous Hufflepuff eats everyones lunch"said a fourth year Syltherin.  The first year boy next to him looked awkwardly annoyed by his companion's rudeness.  In all reality, Cara, suprising even herself, didn't mind.

The boy stood his ground and pursed his lips. "I'm sorry about him, he's a prat like the majority of my house mates."

"It's alright.  I don't mind." Cara answered him with a polite smile.

Cara struggled to hide a sly grin as a Ravenclaw girl snuck up behind the boy.

"BOO!" she shouted before starting to laugh.  Cara couldn't help but join in. "Hi!, my name is Elisabet." she said, holding out her hand, "Its very nice to meet you. I sure hope Alex has been behaving himself."

"Hello Elisabet." Cara said with a smile. "My name is Caralee, but you can just call me Cara.  I find Caralee is sometimes to much of a mouthful.  Alex here was just apologizing for one of his fellow Syltherins. I guess its safe to say that they aren't all bad."

"It's alright.  I don't mind." the girl answered him with a polite smile. Although the smile seemed to change into a grin but before Alexander could ask why someone shouted.

"BOO!" Alexander jumped slightly and saw Elisabet had snuck up on him. He began to laugh with the rest of the group once he felt his heart restarted. to laugh.

Before Alexander could return to the conversation he was having with the Hufflepuff, Elisabet introduced herself. "Hi!, my name is Elisabet." offering her hand, "Its very nice to meet you. I sure hope Alex has been behaving himself."

Alexander mustered a comically mock indignant look at that statement winking at Elisabet. "Hello Elisabet." the Hufflepuff said with a smile."My name is Caralee, but you can just call me Cara.  I find Caralee is sometimes to much of a mouthful.  Alex here was just apologizing for one of his fellow Syltherins. I guess its safe to say that they aren't all bad."

He decided to sit down beside her considering how empty the Great Hall was he didn't think anyone would care whether or not he sat at his House Table. "You can sit down Betta," he winked cheekily at the girl. "So how are you enjoying this term Cara?" he asked as he pulled a plate of croquettes to himself, placing a few on the plate in front of Eliisabet and than his own, after putting mashed potatoes and soaking his in gravy he began to eat ether slowly cutting his croquette and dipping it into the sauce.

Alex offered her his hand and said "its nice to meet you Cara"

"You can sit down Betta," Alex said with a wink directed at Elisabet after taking a seat himself. "So how are you enjoying this term Cara?" He asked while piling food onto his plate.

"Oh, it's alright.  It's better here than home where its just boring.  Especially with my Father gone on a business trip to China." Cara said with a roll of her eyes at the mention of her father's all to convenient "business trip" that had caused his absence over the past break and was still taking place. 'Stupid silk...' she thought. "What about you?"

"You can sit down Betta,"Alex said to her with a wink, all the while readying her plate with croquettes to eat.
"Thank you, Alex, i really hope those aren't the fish kind. I'm not fond of fish.she said with a smile.
'So, Cara, you're in Hufflepuff? My mother was a Hufflepuff, she was sore disappointed when my twin and I weren't sorted into her house. I have no idea if you'll meet her though, she's pretty elusive and likes to stick by herself." she told the girl while cutting into her croquette to check it, "Thank goodness, its chicken."

[Allison Cassidy Rose]

Allison-again- had lost track of time during lunch. I'll just add one little touch to the painting! Allison thought while her cheeks flamed to even her skin tone, matching the pink scars that tatooed her face. I'll only be in the dorm for a moment! How silly was I! Allison rushed into the great hall, hoping to have time to grab a bite before class. The Hufflepuff table was nearly empty and as confident as Allison would like to be, there was just something unsetteling about sitting alone. Luckily, there was a young Huffleepuff and a few other students at the table. Unluckily, she only knew one of the first years and distantly at that. Still, with a deep calming breath Allison approached them humbly.

"Do you mind if I join you for a bit?" Allison asked, her voice smooth as glass and chiming as it typically did. Allison gave a polite nod to Alexander as she waited for a response. She had, after all, been raised with the manners of the prestigious Rose family.

Cara the Hufflepuff replied to his question. "Oh, it's alright.  It's better here than home where its just boring.  Especially with my Father gone on a business trip to China." Alexander smiled blandly, he of course knew what that was like. His parents didn't have time for him or his siblings, although they were in the same country. "What about you?" she asked before he could say anything to her former statement.

"I love Hogwarts, I had been waiting forever to get my letter." Alexander said earnestly as he cut one of his  croquettes and placed it in his mouth, which gave Elisabet a chance to speak.

"Well, its certainly nice to meet you Cara."

Alexander laughed, surprised that Elisabets mum wanted her to be in Hufflepuff. He always thought Hufflepuff was one of those houses no one really wanted to be in out of choice.

"If you had a choice, would you sort yourself into the same house that you're in?" he said to the two girls as he cut up his second croquette. He had wondered often about this. Considering that the Sorting Hat had mentioned that he could see a lot of qualities of a Ravenclaw student in him. However, his determination to win his parents pride and affection meant that the hat placed him in Slytherin.

Before either one of them had a chance to reply however, a second year girl came up to the section of the long table they were sitting at. Alexander looked up and saw that it was Allison. He had seen her around the school but couldn't for the life of him remember if they had been introduced, he didn't want to sound rude by calling her name if they hadn't been.

"Do you mind if I join you for a bit?" the girl said as she nodded at Alexander, who nodded and smiled back.

"Of course not, their's lots of room." he said as he placed a piece of croquette in his mouth.

"If you had a choice, would you sort yourself into the same house that you're in?" Alex had asked.

I think that I would have liked Slytherin, I only seem to hang out with members from that house over any other." Seeing his reaction to mentioning Hufflepuff Betta decided to explain farther. My mom had really wanted us in that house because it was hers. My dad didn't care since he went to Beaubaxtons. If we had not moved to Chertly we would have been students there instead of Hogwarts."

Once finished with her story Betta turned to the girl who had just joined them and echoed the welcome that Alex had just made.

Cara waited patiently while Elisabet spoke before answering Alex's question herself.  
"At first, I really expected myself to be placed in Ravenclaw, but now that I've been in Hufflepuff, and have met a couple of very great people, I wouldn't change it." Cara said with a slightly sad smile, as if she hadn't quite convinced herself, but was determined to believe it.  In all truth, she really did like Hufflepuff.  What she didn't like, was that many people looked down upon it; as if it was the worst house ever.  It sometimes seemed to her that she and her fellow Hufflepuffs were at the bottom of the food chain.

"Thank you" Allison replied as she smiled sweetly and took a seat. "I'm Allison, by the way." she said to the other two at the table. Allison seemed to remember having seen the Hufflepuff around before but she couldn't quite recall her name. As for the Ravenclaw, Allison was at a complete loss. Hopefully they would introduce themselves and reduce her tension.

Alexander listened intently to Caralee and Betta's response, he felt a bit stupid thinking that no one would want to be in Hufflepuff. Each house had its merits, even if they were sometimes hard to point out; as they oft were with Slytherin House.

Before he could brood and muse on the subject more however, Allison spoke introducing herself. "I'm Allison by the way" she said looking at Caralee and himself. "Alexander, nice to meet you and this is Elisabet." he said introducing Betta.
