On December 17 at 04:45PM our beautiful daughter Hannah Lucia was born.

We're all doing well, still resting in the hospital after exhausting labor ending in c-section. Can't wait to be home!

She's so wonderful, sleeps and eats like a champ, we couldn't be happier!

Now how to somehow give Denman a great grand daughter... suggestions are welcome :P

OMG CONGRATS! She's gorgeous!!! and I LOVE the name too.

How do you say Lucia tho? Lu-see-a or Lu-chi-a. I like it both ways so I just wanted to know which way to say it in my head

I think you'd pronounce it Lu-see-a? There's only one way to pronounce it in my mother language really.

I'm so glad I get to go home tomorrow! Can't wait to relax in the comfort of my own home, still in so much pain because they can't give me any better drugs, I'm allergic to the good stuff

That really sucks :(
My epi only worked for a half hour when I was in labour. Altho, I don't think that would be near as painful as being cut open by my hips.
Hope you recover well!

I think the problem is that I was never meant to have a csection. I started labor around midnight, all was fine and was aiming for natural birth which went pretty well. Contractions started pretty fierce though, they already started out at 5 minute intervals lasting roughly a minute. Went to hospital at 6am, labored until around noon, then it became clear there would be problems so I got a spinal. Thank heavens I did because she was stuck and couldn't get out... hence the csection. I spent almost 14 hours in labor plus the section after that...yeah I feel zombie-mom but it's slowly getting better!

Just got prodded for meds and temp stuff, so now everyone but me is sleeping..*sigh*

That is really sad she got stuck :( but she is here now and healthy, right? and that is all that matters, besides, having a csectionn isn't the end of the world, you can have a vbac if you ever want another. In fact my friend Ali is in labour right now and having a hba2c (home birth after 2 csections).
Actually, come to think of it this week is full of babies popping out! I'm excited!! I <3 babies

I like the way you named your baby after my Character, if you have a boy will it be called Fil? Seriously, I am sat here with a huge grin on my face. Massive congratulations to you and Omar

Haha, we first were playing with the name Lauren, and Sophia but that combination is kind of.. ya know .. We were just looking for names we both liked, and that work in both our languages. It was hard! But we managed quite nicely I'd like to think XD

Seriously, I wonder what's up with this hospital. They checked me around 6 so I quickly went back to sleep. Then woke up at little past 7 again because they wanted to do it AGAIN, grrr. I love hospitals like I love stepping into a huge steamy pile of doggy doo on a rainy day  <_<

Better than stepping in doggy do on a warm day then? The sooner you two escape the better.

Cross-cultural naming is always a bit of a minefield, my Czech friend and his Chinese wife really struggled to find something (they called their son Felix in the end). Hannah has always been a name I like, and I think Lucia is a great seasonal choice

Zomg, she is so cute! Mom agrees, I was showing her the pictures lol. It sounds like it wasn't much fun actually having her, but I'm glad she's finally here!

I totally thought the same thing Ellie, you can name your next baby Kylie, it's not fair for you to play favorites. :P

I hate hospitals too, they're so noisy and someone is always poking you. Hopefully you two will be home soon! Plus, at least you have internet.

We are home! Still can't sleep, lol!!!!! I keep wanting to get up and check on her but I can't because of the pain still from the csection.  I'm also basically stuck at the house, doc ok'd only going up and down the stairs once a day. Pfft!

It's great to be home and not be bothered every hour! It's absolutely hilarious how the cat is reacting! She's insanely jealous and starts screaming whenever Hannah cries. When I'm breastfeeding, she's all over Omar begging attention. We've had some priceless moments already I hope to get some pics out of this!

I can imagine, my cat was ghastly when I was home alone and my parents were in Cuba (two weeks ago, for two weeks). She would scream her head off for no reason at all and always wanted to cuddle when I was leaving for work (to the point that she'd let me pick her up, which she absolutely hates). This I mean, is my cat just wanting attention when she was the only other living being in the house, I can't imagine a baby in the house and her not being ruthless.
