Seeing the look on Emmanuelles face his grin vanished, it was more of a grimace than anything. He often smiled when he felt uncomfortable.

"I still do not understand all that has happened. Please explain it for me and the Professor? Also did you perhaps mean Prior Incantato? Thought the spells are similar I think you meant that."

Alexander did not seem abashed by Meghans correction, "Thats what I meant, Priori Incantato is the spell, Priori Incantatem is the effect caused by two unwilling wands when battling to the death." he finished.

"As for what happen, well I was down stairs on my way to see you Professor," he paused before continuing hoping above all hope that he wasn't about to get any dirty looks from Emmanuelle "When I heard a scream, two I believe" he racked his brain, "Yes it was definitely two, by the time I reached the corridor no one was here" Alexander recounted. "Than I came upon Ms. Armand in an uncomfortable position, tied up in the broom cupboard"

((I apologise for any spelling errors, my iPhone tends to autocorrect and while I try to read over it all, it sometimes slips by))

At least the young girl with the French accent was able to identify the root of her suspicions, even if she did create other reasons to back it up. Emmanuelle and Meghan didn’t like each other. It wasn’t unusual for various reasons; they were of opposing houses and their upbringing was rather different. To top it off, they were both very strong willed young ladies. Penvellyn secretly hoped Meghan wasn’t the one responsible. While it might offer the Gryffindor the opportunity to look smugly upon her Slytherin counterpart, perhaps Emmanuelle wouldn’t be so quick to jump to conclusions in the future.

Two screams? Were they both you, Miss Armand?” It seemed unlikely that the culprit would make any sort of racket while trying such a stunt, but dimmer incidents had occurred. Penvellyn tried to recall seeing suspicious students on her way up, but none really came to mind, aside from the young Ravenclaw girl. But surely not; she was kin to the Slytherin in question. Besides, the one responsible could have fled any number of directions or just gone unseen by Penvellyn.

Meghan and Alexander bickered about the spell, after which, the boy rectified his statement. “I do wonder sometimes, Mr. Sowerby, as to how you have such advanced knowledge of spells.” He often seemed to know far more than a first year should. Rather, knew more of it. She had yet to see him attempt such things on his own. “But quite right. Miss Morris, please hand me your wand. And, for good measure, Mr. Sowerby, yours as well.” Penvellyn pulled out her own and pointed to the end of one and then the other, wordlessly casting the spell and causing the imprint of the previous spells to become visible. “Well, I suppose that resolves that particular question.

{I assume you two would like to decide what the last spell cast is.}

“Two screams? Where they both you, Miss Armand?” the Professor eyed Emmanuelle, Alexander wasn't now sure whether he had heard two screams or not. He had been certain it was two, but he couldn't be positive. The voice of Professor Penvellyn brought him back from racking his brain for certainty.

“I do wonder sometimes, Mr. Sowerby, as to how you have such advanced knowledge of spells.” she said, Alexander looked at her not daring to smile in case it made him seem too pleased with himself or to make it seem that his knowledge from books and his older sister and cousin had made him an expert. Similarly, he felt a bit surprised by the formulation of the statement as if she was potentially accusing him of having performed the magic which would have forced Emmanuelle into the broom cupboard in the first place. Surely, she couldn't suspect him, he wondered Why would I have offered the spell if I was guilty?.

Alexander answered slowly. "I read as much as I can Professor, and my sister Julia and my cousin Rowena often mention different spells, which I have since looked up." he said truthfully. Of course, his sister and cousin tried to teach him a few spells after he received his wand; but he didn't think it was prudent to tell the Professor this. Of course, he could have paid Penvellyn a compliment, by saying that his sister and cousin often spoke about Professor Penvellyn but he thought it would be overkill and potentially seen as a way of worming his way out of trouble. The Professor spoke again before replying to his statement. “But quite right. Miss Morris, please hand me your wand. And, for good measure, Mr. Sowerby, yours as well.” Penvellyn pulled out her own and pointed to the end of one and then the other, wordlessly casting the spell and causing the imprint of the previous spells to become visible. Well, I suppose that resolves that particular question.

((Finite Incantatem was my last spell performed, and before that Aresto Momentum, and Arania Exumai))

Meghan looked as the Professor took her wand with wary eyes. Hopefully none of her recent spells left any clue to her and the girls' hideout. They surely would not forgive her if that happened! A sigh of relief escaped her lips as Alohamora, Wingardium Leviosa, and Aresto Momentum. Seeing that Alexander had recently cast Arania Exumai, she wondered when he had run into any spiders of late.

"As you can see, both I and Alexander are innocent. If we want to find the real culprit we must stop pointing fingers and look for clues! Who was the second screamer and why were they screaming? Professor, could you by any chance trace the magic on the rope, to find out the caster? " Meghan rubbed her temples in frustration and looked to the Professor in hope for some guidance.

Emmanuelle was lost for words at the sight of the two students' previous spells. Who was really to blame?

"Both of ze screams were mine," she snapped at Meghan's ignorance.

She took a deep breath and began pacing the small corridor. Em could think of no one who would do this; at least no one who would have the guts to. Luka Chancery? Certainly not; they had an understanding. Alexander and Meghan were both out of the question. She then started to run through the event yet again, searching for clues. The footsteps...they definitely weren't heavy.

"Professor, did you 'appen to see anyone on your way up?" she asked calmly.

As none of the wands showed any sign of being recently used to attack any student, much less the rather dramatic Miss Armand, Eleanor was forced to conclude that neither Mr. Sowerby nor Miss Morris had anything to do with the incident other than being the first two to respond. “We will need to get to the bottom of this.” Certainly she couldn’t allow the culprit to remain nameless. However the three seemed to be more interested in talking than acting. Both of the girls asked her the same question.

You understand that between here and the Great Hall I saw many students. Some were coming to or going from a meal while others may have been on their way to see a professor. I even saw your cousin, Miss Armand. Surely, if I even did see who was responsible, I wouldn’t know for certain based on the short walk I had up here.” As soon as the words slipped out, Eleanor wished that she had thought them through better. Though she had not meant to, by only identifying Adelaine, she had practically incriminated the girl.

Now then,” the professor plowed on before things could get out of hand. “The best course of action would be for you three to go to the Headmaster and discuss this with him. I would escort you and give my own account, however I have a meeting to attend to.” She could very well speak with the Headmaster later, and she didn’t have any desire to listen to more of their back and forth, unproductive chatter.

Once she reached the landing and turned to the left to go upstairs, Eleanor told them, “Run along now,” and departed.

As soon as the professor pointed out that she had seen Adelaine, Emmy froze; her mind went blank. Surely her own cousin wouldn't do such a thing. Then again, she couldn't even count all the 'pranks' she'd pulled on the Ravenclaw in the past. But no, Adele was not the culprit; she didn't have it in her.

"Well, I think we can all put zis matter be'ind us," she took a deep breath, watching as Penvellyn turned out of sight. "I, for one, am not speaking to ze 'eadmaster."

Em navigated around the other two and walked hastily to the little table across from the closet she'd been locked up in. Gathering her things silently, the scene replayed in her head. She could think of no one else who truly had it out for her, and the voice definitely came from a girl..or just a small boy. Mon dieu, she thought to herself, shaking her head. Emmy was not going to jump to conclusions just yet.

"I will be on my way now," she announced calmly, heading the direction Penvellyn went. "Alexander, merci again."

Speed-walking down the passage, Em cleared her mind of everything but the History of Magic essay she had to do tonight.
