Penvellyn thus strove to make the lessons more fun, albeit difficult. Upon each desk was a cage that contained a pair of delicately soft fluffy rabbits. Each set was as close to identical to the other one as Eleanor could manage to acquire. After all, what good was a pair of unmatched slippers? The two that sat on her own desk were dappled grey and white. One pushed its nose through the gap between the bars and Eleanor petted its soft head.
Hopefully the children would enjoy the lesson as much as she did, particularly because they might get something out of it besides new information. She stood very tall and proud next to her desk at the front of the room while the first few students arrived. She nodded in reply to their greetings, but never said anything until everyone was in their seats; it served no purpose to repeat herself when the students were too busy chatting or looking about to listen.

Orion was not at all keen on animals which were dirty and smelly and the sort of thing that other people dealt with before handing them over to you ready for riding/eating/wearing as appropriate. He eyed the rabbits with distaste and hoped he would be turning them into something less alive and more useful

Adele rushed down to the first floor and into the slightly chilly Transfiguration classroom. She was under the impression that she would be late, but saw that there were only a few students seated. She took out the pocket watch her father had given her over the holidays and glanced down at it; five minutes late.
"Er, hello professor," she smiled sheepishly.
She looked at the watch again; it implied that she was now six minutes late. With a frown, she realized someone must have bewitched it and sank into a desk at the back of the room. It wasn't until she nearly knocked it over that she noticed the small cage on her desk. Two white and brown rabbits stared out at her as she looked around the room. What could they be using bunnies for?

"I. Have arrived," she said with a dazzling smile. She quickly headed to her seat and stared at the rabbits in the cage.
"Why on earth are there two nasty creatures infecting my learning space?" she asked herself.

Approaching the chalkboard, Eleanor wrote the incantation “Lepedibus” above a drawing of a sideways figure eight with a straight line from where the two circles joined going down. “Watch carefully,” she instructed, placing the chalk at the center of the drawing. “You’ll start here, move to the left counter clockwise, pass through the middle, move clockwise around the right half of the image, and then point your wand down sharply.” The reason the spell was so difficult to grasp was the fact that the incantation and wand movement hardly lined up.
“I suggest you all take a moment or two in order to make a fluid motion with your wand. Go ahead and say the incantation if you wish, you shouldn’t product a spell without meaning to at this point in your education.” First years were always a liability and Eleanor maintained the idea of keeping wands down on the desk during the first half of any lesson. But second years, nearly third years with Spring well on the way, were expected to have better control.
“You have five minutes to practice, and I expect to see at the very least rabbits without legs by the end of the lesson.” Actually, she really only hoped that none of the students managed to duplicate the creatures; they seemed to multiply on their own quite well.

"Lepedibus," she said, waving the wand. She frowned as the rabbits only slightly changed, the legs had disappeared. She giggled at how odd the rabbits now looked.
"Lepedibus!" she said again. The rabbits did happen to turn into slippers, the problem was, they still had ears. "At least they look cute!" Ellen said successfully.

He decided it would be sensible to get a clear idea in his head of what he wanted the finished slippers to look like, not that he really wanted fluffy white slippers. Or wanted them at all actually. Wafting his wand absent mindedly in the direction of his rabbits, he was distinctly surprised to observe their fur gradually darkening. Well at least he'd done something too them. Perhaps he had better get on and try and learn the spell he was supposed to be doing.

"Lepedibus," she said pointedly, her wand directed to the shabby bunnies. A few feet disappeared, and they seemed to get considerably furrier, but not much more than that happened. Hopefully she would get better results by her third try...or fiftieth.

Thankfully, there were no disasters or hijinks. None of the rabbits grew fangs and none of the students shot anything hazardous from their wands. Considering it a productive day, Eleanor decided to allow the students to leave ten minutes early. “Be certain to do the readings; there will be a quiz at the start of the next lecture over the topics to be covered next week.” She doubted half of the students had heard over the scraping of wooden chair legs on stone floor.
As the bodies filed out of the room, Eleanor moved from one table to another, rounding up the rabbits and setting them back to their original state. She carefully petted the soft fur and made sure they were all accounted for before carrying them to her office and locking them inside.

"Turn into slippers this time, you two," she whispered, pointing her wand at them again and taking a deep breath. "Lepedibus."
With a small twitch, the furry critters became even furrier and flattened a bit. But that was it. Before she knew it, the professor was bidding them farewell and the students were filing out. Wasn't it early? Adele quietly gathered her things, deciding she was in no hurry. With one more look at her rabbits, she sauntered to the from of the room.
"Er, professor, I assume you'll be changing them back," she rendered anxiously, glancing back at the flattened rabbits. "I'm a bit worried about them in this state..Bye!"
With that said, Adele headed out of the classroom and onto her next class, pushing the disfigured bunnies out of her mind.
