A walk about town

Just as he crossed the other side of the road, he noticed someone who looked familiar walking down the street away from him. He did a bit of a double take, Upper Flagley was full of wizarding families; he hadn't however met anyone during the course of the Holiday Break other than in London. Slowly he walked behind the person, it was hard going as it was mid-day, people were in the streets walking. Gentlemen and ladies in carriages, while the poorer folk were forced to walk on their feet. Pedlars, beggars and buskers stood on sidewalks; all wanting your gold. Alexander had brought some muggle money which undoubtedly if he went into a store would be seen as a bit odd. No one paid him much attention, he had purposefully not worn his best clothes; but they still stood out on the shabby street.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, he had caught up with the person he had been tailing.
"Enjoying your time away from Hogwarts?" he said to their back.

She had been wandering about for quite some time now, lazily glancing around with no real purpose. A beggar grabbed at her robes. "My family...hunger, starvation." Her grandparents had told her not to mind them, but the beggar told her of a sad, sad story of how his life turned upside-down and she'd given him some coins. As she slowly walked off, she realised she'd given her money to the wrong person - the man was actually a wealthy businessman who played as a beggar, she'd learnt from the whispers of passers by. The sneaky crook! Lisette hurried away with her nose in the air but she could not hide her blush.
"Enjoying your time away from Hogwarts?" The sudden voice would have startled her, but she kept her poise and swiveled around. It was Alexander, looking as calm and collected as ever. She flushed. Had he been following her? Did he know about the beggar?
Ignoring the countless questions popping up in her mind, she replied:"Hello, Alexander. And yes, I am, thank you very much."

Alexander smiled at the girl, looking at the surroundings of where they had stopped. He noticed a woman and a child, both very dirty as if they had washed themselves in soot watching them, whispering to each other about them. Of course, Alexander could tell Lisette that these two were likely planning some sort of a clever heist to get their money but he refused on principle to frighten the girl. The smile on his lips and the calmness in his voice he spoke. "Would you like to get a warm drink at that little public house over there?" he said nodding toward a very narrow store front on the other side of the street.
"Might be good to get out of this damp weather," he finished. Out of the corner of his eye he noticed that the soot covered boy had disappeared. He gripped the wand that was in his jacket pocket and looked around trying not to create an unnecessary panic.

She felt, rather than saw, a movement behind her. Lisette froze -long enough for the thief to make a grab for her purse and start running off with it. Her first instinct was to scream and cry, but she realised that not only would she sound ridiculous, she didn't need to. Alexander was talented at spells wasn't he? Still, she quickly took out her wand and yelled "Stupefy!", not wanting to feel like the damsel in distress. Her voice echoed down the roads. Apparently she'd missed.

"We need to make a run for it now..." they had done magic outside of school, in broad daylight, and against a muggle. This wasn't going to go well. "Come on, let's go." he said holding out his hand so the girl could grab it and they could run off in the opposite direction.
"The ministry will be here any moment.", he said before continuing his voice calm but filled with haste. "We don't want to be caught here with our wands out."

She remembered her grandparent's words: "If you use magic outside of school, the Ministry will catch you - it's against the rules!" To her it had seemed like some silly little rhyme at the time, but even at that young age she'd understood them. How could she have been so careless? How could she have suddenly forgotten everything and acted on instinct?
Wordlessly she took Alexander's outstretched hand and listened to his words. She felt like a fugitive on the run. She was such a fool.

A shriek met their ears. "WITCH" the dirty child screamed out loud pointing toward Lisette.
Alexander looked at the girl and within moments they had run length of the building and turned quickly right. Alexander kept a good grip on Lisettes arm, it was a tight grip but it wasn't painful. As they ran, they took a left, Alexander looked over his shoulder and saw that the dirty muggle tramp was following them.
"Come on, come on." Alexander murmured more to himself than anyone as they ran the length of the alleyway they were in. Still clutching Lisettes hand they ran into a dead end. A wall, eight feet tall stood in their way to making a getaway. Quickly turning around, Alexander saw that the tramp boy seemed to have summoned three adults who looked furious and blood thirsty.
They were still a bit away but there was no way they could get out of this situation without using more magic.
"Alright, we need to get out of here. Better not use magic until the last possible moment." he looked at the girl, a calmness seemed to spread through him. "I'll boost you up onto the wall so you can get help."

Chancing a glance backward at her pursuers, she gulped again. The child had brought three adults along now, each looking vengeful and ruthless. There was no way out!
Luckily, clear-thinking Alex had a solution. He offered to boost her up.
"Yes, please," she whispered. "And hurry!"

Alexander boosted the girl up so she could reach out the parapet, the two adults were reaching them faster. Suddenly and without the use of his wand, a door exploded open near them. As if a wind had suddenly started, a strong wind seemed to shoot out from the door, which caused a welcome distraction for Alexander and Lisette, as the two adults seemed to scared off getting through the wind which was now pushing the two against the wall as they tried their hardest to get through it.
"Come on ..." he said through gritted teeth.

As soon as they were no longer in the alley, the wind broke and ended.
Alexander helped lower Lisette down, "I reckon we ought to get out of here as soon as we can. They'll be back, I can almost be certain of that,"
