Alexander shook rather violently, his lip trembling and his teeth chattering. He felt cold sweat down his back and what felt like a million ants crawling all over his body. He was lying on his back, pinned down by a number of blankets and warm white sheets. He blinked slowly as voices as if under water were speaking loudly around him. Blurry vision, he couldn't see much more than the white tall ceiling of where he was.
The last thing he remembered was slipping down and falling onto the snow. He had no idea how he got here in bed, no idea where he was. He gazed at the ceiling, not really drinking in his surroundings. His mind felt sluggish and slow and his limbs ached painfully. It was at this moment that he remembered falling through the ice, casting the red sparks. How, however did he get into this bed which had been warmed by hot plates. How did he get from the lake to the hospital wing, which he guessed he was in. The voices sounded distant but seemed to come louder as the watery feeling of his ears being plugged slowly evaporated with pops.
Just than, a friendly face swam into view. He blinked slowly trying to focus on the features. He smiled when he realised who it was.

Alex! You're finally awake! Betta said while smiling. We've been taking turns sitting by your bed waiting for you.
Elisabet was trying really hard not to let her worry show. She had even owled her mum to see if there was anything that could be done to help Alex recover faster.
I made you a get well card, and, I brought your favourite drink Betta told him as she pulled out s canister of hot chocolate and a folded coloured parchment. So you don't have to sneak into the kitchens anymore she whispered

Meghan awkwardly watched the two exchange words and felt bad about interrupting but felt the need to check for herself Alexander was well. She crossed the room and stood at the foot of Alexander's current bed. She and Elisabet had took on the task of anxiously awaiting his awakening. Seeing him awake brought some cheer into her features and erased the worried creases that had wrinkled her brow.
"Hello, I see Alexander has finally decided to get up. What a lazy bones! Am I right Elisabet?" Meghan jested. "You about had us worried to death! I guess this means no more ice skating races anytime of soon. I cannot wait for a rematch, you need to earn your pride back somehow." Meghan winked, she did love to banter. "Elisbet could even join as well, the more the better!"

Alexander blinked a few more times as he watched Elisabet smiling at him. Her voice travelled slowly as if from a far away. However, suddenly as if someone had set a kettle on the fire it popped into the proper volume. "Alex! You're finally awake!", Alexander tried to sit up but he felt incredibly weak and everything ached, he smiled at Elisabet and felt a bit embarrassed by the fuss that he had caused. "We've been taking turns sitting by your bed waiting for you."
He couldn't find the words to speak as Elisabet went on.
"I made you a get well card, and, I brought your favourite drink" Betta said as she pulled out a canister of hot chocolate and a folded coloured parchment. "So you don't have to sneak into the kitchens anymore" the girl whispered. Alexander felt a small ball like knot forming in his throat. He cleared his throat somewhat and was surprised by the hoarse whisper that came out of his mouth. "Thank you for everything." he said simply, his voice quiet and barely audible. Trying to fight back any tears that might come, only his sister had ever shown such consideration for him and she was family. This girl was a total stranger but a great friend. He was glad that they had met and they formed their friendship, he would tell her so but he couldn't find words.
Just than, Meghan came into view and seemed to try to lighten the situation.

He stopped after clearing his throat after his cough subsided. "You about had us worried to death! I guess this means no more ice skating races anytime of soon. "Cheeky monkey" Alexander whispered smiling back at Meghan and Elisabet. "Thank you for everything. For saving my life...for..." his voice trailed off.
