Hey all!
Really I just wanted to show off my super amazing jack-o-lantern that I ignored sleep and homework to carve, but I'm also interested in hearing how Halloween went for you. Cute kids come by? Wind up in a sugar coma? Have a satanic potato stolen from you *cough*Ellie*cough*? Please share!
Pictures are welcome (though hopefully they aren't too incriminating).
Here's my jack o lantern that I spent about 6 hours on... There's half a Ravenclaw one on the back, but it's not done yet.
Come on, show and tell about your Halloween!

Had to work Halloween eve, so unfortunately didn't see any of the kids that came to the house. Not sure if my parents even gave out candy this year (attendance has been getting progressively worse the last three years).
My contribution to this thread was my costume that I wore to a friends Halloween Party. It's a bit over the top maybe but I went for realism and authenticity.

I think Kristany thought she died and went to heaven. She was my undead mermaid. She ran around going candy! candy! tik tweet pease!!!
In other words she was a hit.
It was funny tho because for some, they let her pick her candy and she actually thought about it. For 20mos old she is apparently very particular about her candy (unfortunately for mommy her candy of choice seemed to be malted milk balls ick! but Daddy likes them) or sometimes she'd take like 3 handfuls and then say TANKS! Bye!
Either way, it wore her out and she went to bed like 2hrs early and slept all night
(win for me btw)

Undead mermaid? Almost as good as a satanic potato. The satanic potato, which I sadly didn't photograph, was home grown. It was basically two small potatoes that had grown into each other so it had a head and a body. The head end had two convenient eyes and two brilliantly proportioned shoots - it did genuinely look like satan. Satanic potato was sat in the treat tub looking suitably satanic when a child took it and declined to swop it for chocolate.
Trick or treating is getting massively more popular in our area, we got through three of the large bags of chocolate that shops sell for trick or treating and a tub of quality street. And a potato. One good thing is that it seems to be the rule that people who are prepared to hand out treats put out pumpkins and everyone else gets left alone.
I love that pumpkin Meg, ours were just the standard faces but they looked quite good. We have a large porch so we had the pumpkins plus a couple of candle lanterns and some tea lights floating in 'blood'. We also had some silvery cloth pinned over the doorway for added spookiness

oh my goodness MEG, kudos! that is one of the greatest pumkins i have ever seen. though, i think it'd be better if it was slytherin.
my halloween was somewhat miserable. i did my little cousins' make up and all, which was fun, then i took them trick or treating. but we had to do it on sunday, i guess since halloween was a monday..? i dunno. but then it rained, and we got wet. the end.

It was a compromise costume. I wanted her to be a Zombie and we had bought the ariel costume last year as a just in case thing if I couldn't find the witch costume I wanted. He was all pissy that we hadn't needed it so after making her look all zombie like I put the Ariel dress on her
