The pale Ravenclaw still looked downcast, but she noticed that she wasn't the only one. She listened, fascinated, at Alexander's talk of his older sister. Serena got a peek at the locket and she truly was beautiful, just as Zella had said. Cocking her head on one side, Serena watched Alexander's face very carefully as he looked at his locket and talked of his sister. Being apart from her obviously pained him. She reached out, meaning to touch his hand, but changed her mind at the last minute, and pretended to scratch some dirt off the table instead.
Looking down at the table, she began to talk of her own dear sister. "Her name's Faith. She's 9. We're incredibly close - since she was born, we've never been apart. Until now. Her cat, and my mother's, are littermates of my Mina. Faith looks like a miniature me!" Serena laughed, but her heart was not in it and her eyes were still cast downwards. "She clings to me because... She wants to know about... Him." Serena stuttered and her voice caught over the lump in her throat. "Mother won't talk about him and she doesn't..." Again, the lump in the throat. With a huge sigh, Serena finished her sentence as fast as she could. "She doesn't remember", then made to grab a book from the nearest shelf.

Serena spoke her voice trembled slightly as if she was on the verge of tears. Alexander looked at her sympathetically. She spoke of her sister and like Alexander she missed her dearly as well.
"Her name's Faith. She's 9. We're incredibly close - since she was born, we've never been apart. Until now. Her cat, and my mother's, are littermates of my Mina. Faith looks like a miniature me!" the girl laughed half-heartedly and she looked down. "She clings to me because... She wants to know about... Him." the girl stuttered slightly as she tried to swallow something in her throat. "Mother won't talk about him and she doesn't..." With a huge sigh, Serena finished her sentence. "She doesn't remember",.
He knew the girl must have been feeling miserable and in order to cheer her up and stop anyone from asking any potential awkward questions toward her, Alexander did the only thing he could think of. Clutching the wand in his robe pocket, he took it out swiftly without anyone noticing pointed it at the leg of his chair and moved his mouth noiselessly. "Reducto".
He felt the chair sway as the leg vanished, as if time stood still, he felt his chair wobbling and wobbling and falling backward. Swaying his arms rapidly Alexander fell backwards and crashed onto the floor. He burst into laughter as he picked himself up and looked down at the broken leg of his chair. He was glad that his spell had not been powerful enough to disintegrate the whole leg since it would have been suspicious enough.
Just as he looked at the chair, a nasal voice from behind the book shelves roared at them.
"What is going on here?"
Alexander looked at the hawk like Librarian. "I'm sorry Ma'am, my chair just broke." The woman seemed to notice Alexander at once and her facial expression changed to one of slight neutrality. "Ah yes, Mr. Sowerby. It's quite okay. The chairs are old of course. Here, let me fix this one for you"
"Reparo" she pointed at the chair which mended itself instantly. Than without another word she shuffled off. Alexander stood bemused at this and looked back at the table he was with, shrugging his shoulders the bemused expression still on his face. "Don't know what that was about?"

Elisabet giggled when she saw Alexander fall out of his chair until the librarian hissed at them to be quiet.
beards, this librarian was strict we barely made any noise. She seemed to back off when she saw it was Alexander though. Wonder why? His isn't a name I recognize, then again Mother and Father rarely speak about anything besides the hospital
Are you okay Alexander?

He fixed his hair slightly which had been dishevelled as a result of the crash.
"Are you okay Alexander?" Elisabet asked him.
Alexander smiled "Yes, I'm alright. It was a bit surprising though that the chair fell apart though."
What was also a bit mysterious and surprising was the way the librarian had reacted to seeing him. He was sure she would have wrung his neck if it hadn't been him, but he hadn't ever seen her at his parents parties, nor had he ever heard her mentioned.

Zella watched the girl, Serena, as her eyes filled with tears talking about her sister. Who doesn't she remember? she wondered. She jumped when she heard a small crash, and turned to see Alexander on the floor laughing. The librarian came over and fixed it, surprising her with her lack of scathing comments after she realized who fell. What the...? What was that about? Is he or his family someone special?
"Are you okay, Alexander?" she heard her sister ask. "Yes, I'm alright. It was a bit surprising though that the chair fell apart though."
"Old things tend to do that after awhile, you know." Zella said with a smirk.
((sorry, I've got a bit of a block, and haven't had any coffee today

"Old things tend to do that after awhile, you know." the Gryffindor girl said with a smirk.
Smiling back Alexander nodded; "Yes they sadly do"
A sudden idea came to his head, not certain as to whether the rest of them would be in for it. "You girls can shut me down if you'd like, but I propose we move this off to somewhere with slightly better seats." He was thinking of course of the currently unused Muggle Studies class which had couches and comfortable chairs in it.
"Muggle Studies classroom has some comfortable seats and we could grab a few snacks and hot chocolate from the kitchens of course."

Serena craned her neck round from the shelf when she heard the crash. Seeing Alexander in a heap on the floor made her giggle and forget her homesickness. Serena laughed along with the others as she rejoined them at the table. She was about to ask Alexander if he'd hurt himself, but one of the others got there first. As the librarian came over, Serena's heart began beating faster. Oh Merlin, we're for it now, she thought. To her utmost surprise, the librarian was overly nice to Alexander and didn't get cross with any of them. Serena looked carefully at Alexander. Just who was he? Who were his family? Judging by the expression on Alexander's face, he hadn't got the slightest idea how the librarian knew him. "What do your parents do, Alexander?" Serena asked innocently. "I'm all for comfier chairs! Lead the way!"

"What do your parents do, Alexander?" asked Serena the Ravenclaw.
Alexander looked at her, "They're merchant shippers, but they only oversee the operation." he said simply. He had heard the rumours about his parents, their business may have been legitimate but it was more or less a front for smuggling illegal goods both for the muggle and magical customers across the ocean. To be quite honest, he couldn't be certain whether the rumours which had persisted for years were true or not.
"Anyway, what do the rest of you think?" he asked the group.

"Sounds fine to me! I'd love a nice snack." Zella stood and packed up her chosen books into her bag, and waited to see what everyone else decided on.
