Twas a fortnight to Christmas and Alexander sat alone in an empty library starring off absent mindedly into a space, a book lay on the desktop open face down. A book like no other he had read. Oddly enough, this was not a book on spells, curses, charms, transfiguration, potions or herbology he often read. Not even magical theory, it was called The Life and Strange Surprizing Adventures of Robinson Crusoe, of York, Mariner: Who lived Eight and Twenty Years, all alone in an un‐inhabited Island on the Coast of America, near the Mouth of the Great River of Oroonoque; Having been cast on Shore by Shipwreck, wherein all the Men perished but himself. With An Account how he was at last as strangely deliver’d by Pyrates.

Although most just chose to call it Robinson Crusoe after the protoganist of the story. He had just read a passage on how he saved a man from becoming cannibalized by the marooned island's natives, calling him friday. While it was a bit hard to imagine a warm sunshine as the sky outside was inky black although it wasn't all that late. He focused his imagination on the idea. He'd like to be on an island somewhere, nice and warm. Swimming in the ocean.

It was at that idea that he thought he saw movement behind a book case. Alexander felt that he was being watched but whoever it was, they didn't really seem to have malicious intent at least not yet.

Ellenore was looking through the books on the shelves. Never was there anything that sparked her attention, but, it was worth a shot. Something Ellen did not enjoy much was reading.

Eventually, she peered out from behind the bookshelf. There was a first year sitting at a table reading a book of some sort. She watched him for a moment.

She felt odd watching him. She decided to show herself. She walked over.
"Hello," she said.

Elisabet needed time to think, and study, so she decided to visit her most favourite place in the all of Hogwarts. The Library. Walking into the library and having the smell of the books envelope her like a sweet perfume was heavenly, she said Hello, to the librarian and suddenly stopped, amazed.
Usually, she was the only person in the library during this time of day so when she noticed the two other students she was shocked still.
This is MY haven, what are they doing here?? This isn't fair!! after having a snit in he head about not being in the library alone she decided to continue on and look for a new book to read.

Serena Moon was lurking amongst the books in the Library. The Ravenclaw was still having problems mixing with her fellow students, so she often came in here to read quietly by herself instead. But today, there was a boy and a girl already here. Serena didn't think they'd noticed her entering the Library at all, as she slipped through the door and made for the nearest shelves.

Right after she'd got between two rows of books, the Library door opened again. Another First Year Ravenclaw had come in. Serena thought she knew her name from classes, but Serena didn't really talk to anyone or spend any time in the Common Room, so that was about all she knew.

Moving carefully from one alleyway to another, Serena crept closer to the students sitting down. From somewhere in her heart, she wanted to make friends. Serena always said afterwards that she didn't have the faintest idea what had got into her that day. Christmas spirit perhaps? But Serena stepped out from the shelves and took a seat with the others, saying as she did so, "Hi; I'm Serena!"

A pleasant voice greeted him as a girl stepped from behind the book case and walked slightly over "Hello" she said.

"Hello, you're Ellenore right?" he replied in a very warm and welcoming voice. "Would you like to have a seat?" he stood up as he motioned to a chair at the table he sat at. Alexander had seen the girl before, naturally since she was a Slytherin. Although he had never had interaction with her, since she was a second year and most of the second years while he knew by sight he didn't really talk to.

It was mostly just the fourth years that he was friends with and mostly only because his father and mother had known their fathers and mothers.

Just at that moment another voice and body appeared. A first year that Alexander had classes with but couldn't remember if he ever had talked to her in class or outside.

"Hi; I'm Serena!"

The voice said, Alexander smiled once again, greeting the girl with an introduction. Unlike his pompous perhaps slightly arrogant way of greeting that he had been forced and taught from a young age, he simply said. "Nice to meet you, I'm Alexander" it felt odd saying just his first name without mentioning his last but something in his mind told him not to bother. That impressing people at school was of little consequence.

Ellen smiled. She knew the boy from other school activities. Not many of the other students have been as polite as he seemed.
"Thank you," she said, sitting down.  ((RARG. Writers block.))

After calming down some and finding a  new book to read Betta decided to be social. Zella was always bugging her to make new friends instead of being stuck in a book all of the time. Which, was ironic if you think about it, because that was where Z spent all of her time as well.

She approached the table with the two girls and the boy.
Hi! My name is Elisabet, you may call me Betta if you wish. What are you reading?she asked the boy. Oh!she said quickly before giving him a chance to answer I love that novel, my sister and I read it a few months ago, What do you think about it?

Another student arrived in the section, Alexander hoped that that librarian wouldn't scatter them all away. They weren't making that much noise but you never knew what kind of mood the librarian would be in. They were in the quiet study area though, so they could talk somewhat without being disruptive and without anyone else in the library, he didn't think she (the librarian) could make claims that they were disrupting anyone else.

The girl was a Ravenclaw, although a first year much like himself and Serena. Alexander smiled at the girl who introduced herself to their small group and spoke to Alexander.

"Hi! My name is Elisabet, you may call me Betta if you wish. What are you reading?"

However, before he could even answer at which Alexander smiled at this genuinely she said.

"Oh! I love that novel, my sister and I read it a few months ago, What do you think about it?"

"It's good," said the boy still smiling. "I'm Alexander, it's nice to meet you and this is Serena and Ellenore" he said politely without pointing at the girls but the way he motioned at them with the nod of his head, it was unmistakable which one was which.

Serena smiled at the Slytherin boy as he introduced himself to her. Perhaps this whole making friends thing wasn't so hard after all. She noticed that the other Ravenclaw seemed especially into books, also. Looking towards Betta, Serena said: "What are some of your favourite books and authors?"

To the Slytherins, she said; "Does it not get extremely cold sleeping in the Dungeons? But then... You aren't out in the wind like us in the towers..."

Finally with some free time, and a lack of books to read, Zella entered the library. This wasn't her first excursion, but she certainly hadn't come often enough to suit her. She wandered aimlessly through the stacks, as was her wont, and ran her fingers gently over the books as she passed, pulling those that jumped out at her, metaphorically, and once, literally. She perused the volumes, and narrowed them down to tomes that truly suited her desires at the current time. Once she had her three books, her favorite number, she went to find a nice quiet nook to read in. She was not in the mood to go all the way back to the tower and try to ignore the rambunctious Gryffindors. No no no, this was the perfect time to curl up in a quiet corner, surrounded by the sweet musty smell of old books, and lose herself.

Walking the stacks, she heard some quiet chatting. Getting closer she heard her sister effusing over a book and rolled her eyes. Turning in a gap in the shelves unnoticed, she walked on. A-HA! The perfect spot. Settling on the floor, she picked a random book, and cracked it open. Half reading, and half listening to her sister and her friends, she settled down for the long haul.

Still smiling and listening to as Serena asked her fellow Ravenclaw a question, he thought he should elaborate on his opinion but he'd have a chance to do so later. He wasn't about to be rude to people who readily sat down with him, considering that some of his own fellow housemates seem to be in bad tempers with him. Mind you, they weren't exactly genuine. Whatever happened in Hogsmeade was a long time ago, but Emmanuelle undoubtedly told her cousin about their falling out, which Alexander thought was mostly a misunderstanding.

He felt that he had been used, but Emmanuelle claimed something else, but he didn't understand what exactly. One way or another, it didn't matter now. Just than, he heard Serena ask a question.

"Does it not get extremely cold sleeping in the Dungeons? But then... You aren't out in the wind like us in the towers..."

"It's surprisingly not as cold as you'd think. It's not warm either though. Just, sweater weather." he said grinning slightly at the silly way to end the statement.

Alexander stood up smiling at the girls sitting at the table, "I hope you ladies don't mind" walking over to the table the other twin was sitting at he said. "Would you like to join us? We have lots of room."

Alexander? That is such a nice name! Hi Serena!! and I believe I heard your name was Ellenore, correct? Sorry, I interrupted you, I get nervous with meeting new people, please, tell me what you thought of the book?

Betta sat down and started to get comfortable when she noticed Z walking into the library. She looks preoccupied, and more than ready for a good sit down and read break. I bet the Gyffindor common room is too loud for her to relax in, I still can't believe she wasn't place in Slytherin, or Ravenclaw like I was.

Seeing her sister entering the library made Elisabet accidentally tune out what Alexander was saying about the book so she answered Serena's question once she snapped out of it

Gulliver's Travels by Jonathon Swift is a good read, he is a muggle author and one of my favourites, a few more books of his I like are A Modest Proposal, and   A Tale of a Tub. I also enjoyed  A Tale of Two Cities by Dickens and also Shakespeare, my sister and I acted out some of his plays at home

Serena's gaze followed Alexander as he made for another girl that Serena hadn't noticed until now. She looked sort of like Betta. Serena looked at Betta again, and did a double-take. "You have a twin! What's her name?" Serena couldn't remember having seen the Gryffindor twin around anywhere before, but Serena was so often in a daydream she didn't notice much anyway. She wouldn't be surprised if she'd actually spoken to the girl, mistaken her for Betta and not even noticed the uniform colours. That was just Serena for you. Turning back to Betta and their conversation about books, Serena said, excitedly: "I like the ancient greek stuff. The plays and the philosophy. And the myths!!!!"

((I wasn't at a table, I was on the floor, and Betta and I barely look alike at all. We're fraternal lol. Also, I hate that blue, Laura. It kills my eyes, especially when I'm tired.))

"Would you like to join us? We have lots of room."

Zella held up a finger, in the universal sign for "give me a sec." She finished reading the paragraph she was on, and inwardly sighed. She just wanted to read. Of course, since Betta was there, that meant she had to go and be social, or else be teased for being a hypocrite."Betta, you're too much of a bookworm! You should make some friends." Yeah. Great. Now I have to, too. My plan to get her to find someone else to bother has backfired. Bah. Remembering that someone had just answered a question, Zella looked up at the boy. He had just asked her to join them, and was now waiting patiently for an answer. She looked back down at her books, pulled a bit of ribbon from her pocket, and slipped it between the pages.

"I suppose it wouldn't hurt," she finally replied. Standing from the floor, she followed Alexander to the table with all of the chatty people. "I'm Zella. Betta's my big sister." She snorted at her own little joke. HA! Little joke? BAHAHAHA Betta is shorter than me.

Alexander stood bemused as the Gryffindor girl pointed with her finger that she was about to answer him in a few moments time. Not that he wasn't used to being ignored but, it was odd none the less. He looked back at the table he was sitting with, looking bewildered and shrugging his shoulders slightly. A slight smirk spread across his face.

The girl finally answered after marking a page in the book she had been reading. "I suppose it wouldn't hurt,"

Alexander smiled at the girl as they strode over to the table the whole group was sitting at. The girl introduced herself to the gang. "I'm Zella. Betta's my big sister.".

"I'm Alexander, and this is Serena" he motioned at the Slytherin girl, "and Ellenore".

Serena smiled at the Gryffindor as she came to join them. "What are you reading?" She asked her.

Through discussing books with her peers instead of her sister, Serena felt a pang of homesickness hit. She hated being away from home at the best of times, but having to stay at Hogwarts right through until summer, hadn't been part of the plan. Without lessons, Serena didn't have distractions either. Serena's smile drained from her face. "You two are so lucky to have each other here. Are you close? My little sister is everything to me. I miss her terribly."

The black-haired Ravenclaw looked downcast. She was seriously going to have to adjust to this being away from home ten months out of every twelve thing. What would Mother do when Faith started at Hogwarts?

We get along as well as any other siblings do I suppose. Elisabet answered Serena. I know my little sister enjoys being in a separate Hogwarts Houses a bit more than I do, but I enjoy it myself. We've been together since birth, its a nice break actually. How about you and your sister? What is she like?

Alexander sat down at the table. The conversation had turned from talking about books, which they all seemed to enjoy reading to talking about families, specifically sisters.

Serena was the first to speak and she was looking at the la Barre twins. "You two are so lucky to have each other here. Are you close? My little sister is everything to me. I miss her terribly."

Alexander privately felt the same way, he'd do anything for his sister to be here or both of his younger siblings to be at Hogwarts already. However, they weren't going to Hogwarts any time soon and he was for the time being alone. Serena seemed to be having a hard time at Hogwarts considering her almost instant change of expression at the mention of her sister.

Elisabet spoke before he could say anything to comfort Serena.

"We get along as well as any other siblings do I suppose." "I know my little sister enjoys being in a separate Hogwarts Houses a bit more than I do, but I enjoy it myself. We've been together since birth, its a nice break actually. How about you and your sister? What is she like?"

Not wanting to be rude, the boy sat quietly although he took out a small locket from his pocket. Opening it showed a picture of a beautiful girl of eighteen, with dark brown hair and green eyes. It was as if it was a mere moment ago, the memory of being given the locket flooded to him.

It was a warm sunny afternoon, the last day of August. Sitting in the back gardens, the girl in the picture wore a stunningly pretty light violet dress. "Alex," she said not trying to hide her watery eyes. "This is for you, any time you're scared or lonely, sad or angry. Just hold it tightly in your hand and you'll know that I love you very much." Alexander tried to gulp back the huge ball he had in his throat, but his own eyes gave away his sadness. "I'm going to miss you," he hugged her his voice trailing off, tears leaking down his cheeks. "I love you Jules, you're the best sister I could have ever asked for.". Julia smiled, her eyes shinning and water just as much as his "I love you too, as soon as I and Rowena come back from Europe. I'll come and take you away from here." she said quietly. He looked at her with a pained expression in both his voice and face. "I'd love to but I, I - I think I may finally have gotten them to take an interest in me."

The echo of his voice trailed off just as he heard his name being said in the present.

Zella looked around the table at everyone. Her sister was talking about her with someone... What is her...? I think it starts with an S? Seems right. Hmmmm... Think think think... AH! Serena! A satisfied smile flashed across her face. They were talking about siblings, and missing them. How can I miss you, if you won't go away?

Continuing her study of the group, Zella saw Alexander pull out a locket and open it, his eyes misting over in obvious sad remembrance. Clearing her throat, she addressed him. "Alexander? Who is that a picture of? She's lovely."

"Alexander? Who is that a picture of? She's lovely."

"Her name is Julia," Alexander said handing her the open locket so she could look at it closely. "My older sister. She's already left Hogwarts. Doing the Grand Tour right now in Europe with my cousin who also just left Hogwarts." He missed her dearly, they corresponded regularly, every two days but being away from her when he wasn't at Hogwarts didn't seem as bad. Of course, perhaps it was the fact that she got to come home for the Holidays or that she was in the same country helped to make him feel that the distance wasn't quite as big.

"My cousin was a Ravenclaw, first one in either my maternal or fraternal family not to be in Slytherin." he smiled, "Was rather shocking to everyone." he caught himself almost telling the girl that if he had known what it would be like to be in Slytherin House he would have chosen differently, the choice of course was given when he placed the Sorting Hat at the beginning of the year. The hat took a few moments to decide choosing between Ravenclaw and Slytherin. It was Alexander's deepest desire to win his parents over that made the ultimate decision.
