Greetings all! You’ve no doubt, at one time or another, found the “Between the Lake and Forest” forum on the grounds. But, how many of you have actually read the description? To save you the trouble of clicking about, I’ll add it here:

“A more romantic encounter under the stars, illegal duelling... if you want to take your topic a bit further than PG allows for, take it over here.”

This is in fact the only area on the site we have for PG-13 topics, discussions, and antics. That’s not to say all the first years need to run into the forest at midnight to have duels in defense of future wives or anything that dramatic, but, as we know, students in the wizarding world do get themselves into scary and romantic situations at some point in their 7 years at Hogwarts.

Now then, the reason this was brought up is to ask what you guys think of the area. Do you post there because it says “forest and lake” or because you intend to go through topics that are slightly higher rated than other areas? Do you have no idea what the difference in PG and PG-13 is? Do you feel the area should be password protected until your character is actually 13?

This is just a discussion area. The staff obviously has their ideas about what the area should before, but what would you guys like to see it as?

i personally like it because it's outside of the school, and my characters like to go on walks :) it's nice to get outside sometimes and sit by the lake. but i have to admit, it's fun being unsupervised so that you can throw a few hexes someone's way. (<-- sarcasm..sorta)

heh...oh you are still supervised.  I mean students of Hogwart's are still forbidden to go into the forest and such.  It's not a place where teachers and staff  let students unwind by avada kadavaring the lot of ya'. :P

Is the PG-13 rating for character or user?

By the way, I think this is a great idea.

For the student. Where you can let an occasional swear slip or something like that. I realize that most of our characters are fairly young and can't realistically get into too much trouble, but I wonder if you guys use it like any other location or does the fact that it's PG-13 affect how you RP there?

the original idea was designed as a more PG-13 area for readers.  Say you have a reason to date another student and you plan to kiss them.  This would be the perfect place.  Where as just a mediocre PG location isn't really a great place for a kiss.  Or say  You plan violence on another student, like a duel or fighting them for some reason.  Again the PG-13 location is a better location than just a PG location.

I suppose it's meant for content and readers.  Characters can do anything the players make them do, while players are a little more "held to the rules" and then the site gets held to a few rules that you may not ever think of.

I think it's quite a good idea (then again, I may be a bit biased since my character is barely over the age limit) but maybe we should wait. After all, as has been pointed out before, most of our characters aren't over the age and perhaps next year would be a better time to start enforcing the rule. Maybe we should have a separate one? (Lake and Forest, PG version and Lake and Forest, PG-13 version) Some of the players that play younger charries might like to have them go for a walk.

Absolutely.  And this is a topic to get the interest and idea of what the players think it should be used as not to tell you what it was orginally made for.  Sorry that was me who did that....:P

Maybe we should have an area for normal location and then the PG13 area...but essentially I think that's what was done.....it didn't say lake and grounds PG and lake and grounds PG13.  I think that might be slightly insulting to the players that it had to be spelled out that way, right?  heh heh

what are your thoughts?

Ooups...
I was just posting there whenever I wanted a thread to take place "Between the Lake and the Forest."

I think if you want that to stay as a PG 13 area (which I can proudly enter!) then mebbie we need somewhere else described as between the lake and the grounds... Like the good Professor said! ;)

But wondering though, what happens if someone wants to kiss someone kiss inside, rather than between the lake and forest?
Maybe there should be a PG 13 area, and you can say in the subject where its taking place or something?
Just an idea...
:)

No, because no matter the character is under age, they can still curse and act in a manner that exceeds PG rating.

As for players not yet 13 years old, Im a firm believer in taking responsibility for your own actions online, how else are you going to learn to stay safe? I am however, not above and beyond taking appropriate action on a case by case basis if needed.
