His sister Julia had told him about how one could sneak into the kitchens. Now that he was walking down to dark corridor he wasn't so certain this would work but Alexander couldn't back out. Not after accidentally boasting about it to a group of sixth years, he was now forced to show that he could do it.

Coming to portrait of a pear and other fruit, Alexander hesitated. Than with the full knowledge that he could posses a rather powerful influence over students that were hungry, he decided to lift his finger up to the pair on the painting. Tickling it slightly, the pair trembled squirming and giggling which in a mere blink of an eye the pear turned into a green door knob.

Alexander turning the knob entered a fascinatingly room of grandeur and size.

The room must have been as large as the great hall with a similarly huge ceiling, glittering pots shone on as he watched all the House elves working away to clean up after Supper.

A small House elf came up to him and spoke. "Would you like something kind sir"

Alexander smiled at the House elf, at that exact moment he saw another Hogwarts student out of the corner of his eye.

((Hope you don't mind me joining, I know Alexander and Amelia have seen a lot of each other lately... I can leave after this post if you want.))

Amelia had to get food for the her birthday party. She had invited a lot of people and assumed they would be expecting food. Luckily Amelia had received a tip-off from her brother about the ticklish pear, he said it was a well-known secret about the castle, practically all the students knew about it according to him. That was a bizarre piece of magic, Amelia thought to herself, it was the magic like that that caught her off-guard. Amelia continued thinking about that odd piece of magic, wondering why it was even there as she entered the kitchen.

Amelia suddenly came back to reality with a crash as she noticed another person in the room. Amelia jumped back, ready to run out of the entrance if necessary. Please don't be a professor, please don't be a professor, Amelia thought, not daring to look at the person quite yet. Amelia finally looked at the individual and then laughed walking back into the room. "Alexander Sowerby, you do have a habit of making me jump!"

Amelia then approached a house elf and requested some food for the party. A number of elves began rushing around the room, grabbing and preparing the food Amelia required. "I was just grabbing food for my birthday gathering tomorrow, it's in the common room, I'd be happy if you could join us, i've invited most of Slytherin so they'll be plenty of people to get to know, if you want to come?" Amelia explained, inviting Alexander along. Amelia could not tell if Alexander would be in to parties but it was only really a gathering with the Slytherins and Amelia would like the opportunity to talk to Alexander again.

((No, no need to worry))

A fellow Slytherin first year traipsed into the kitchen. He was glad it was a student and a Slytherin at that, he couldn't face the possibility of potentially meeting someone unwanted here.

He turned around to face her just as she spoke. "Alexander Sowerby, you do have a habit of making me jump!"

Smirking, the boy replied.

"My sincerest apologies, what brings you down to the kitchens" he said. Just than one of the house elves made himself available. Alexander apologized for the interruption to the girl and told the elf to grab enough sandwich meat, butter, buns, cheese, and a jug of whatever juice was in store; plus any sweets that were available for at least a dozen people.

Looking back in Amelia's direction, he watched the girl as she herself requested food.

The elves in drones began to grab whatever they had requested, placing the food carefully wrapped in magical sacks which looked rather small but were magic enough to hold all this food.

The girl spoke as Alexander watched the elves at work. "I was just grabbing food for my birthday gathering tomorrow, it's in the common room, I'd be happy if you could join us, i've invited most of Slytherin so they'll be plenty of people to get to know, if you want to come?"

Smiling, the boy replied "I'll be glad to come!"

Alexander had said he would be glad to come and Amelia smiled, whilst sampling some of the food, it was delicious, nothing beat Hogwarts food. "Well I am glad you'll come. I thought it might be beneficial for the Slytherins to have a party, especially for the first years. All the other houses were immediately all pally-pallyso I thought it wouldn't harm the Slytherins to at least get to know each other, you know?"This was Amelia's real motive behind the party, she wanted to get to know her other house-mates, she wasn't proposing they all palled up like the other houses but it was always useful and enjoyable to have acquaintances.

"So Alexander, what are you up to in here?"Amelia smirked, her tone was not accusatory, purely curious, Amelia was always curious to what Alexander was up to, he seemed to be a mysterious kind of person.

Alexander watched her as she spoke. Smiling he replied.

"Yes, I can see what you mean."

Just at that moment a house elf came by with a bag of food. Taking the bag of food from the elf, he said thank you curtly and politely. Even though he knew it wasn't necessary since House Elves lived to serve. However, he didn't want to find himself prone to burnt toast at breakfast because he had been rude to some foolish elf.

"So Alexander, what are you up to in here?" the girl asked.

Thinking about his answer he let out a slight laugh.

"I did this on a bet." he said simply adding, "The upper year Slytherin's didn't think I could get in, or for that matter had the nerve to take food from here."

Amelia smirked at Alexander as she began to exit the kitchen slowly. "Well, Alexander, i'm glad you have been able to prove them wrong, you certainly have the nerve, see you around then."With a small glance over her shoulder and a smile, Amelia exited the kitchen, vast amounts of food in hand.

"Well, Alexander, i'm glad you have been able to prove them wrong, you certainly have the nerve, see you around then."

Alexander smirked back, "Yes, I'll see you around."

Smiling he stood on the spot, thinking of what to get the girl for her birthday. Some sort of sweets, but not from the kitchen. It was pointless if she could just get it herself. Standing there as the elves moved around him, Alexander slowly turned, deep in thought. Well, Bertie's Botts are generally a success but than not everyone likes them, perhaps fizzing whizbees might be the best bet.

He made towards the door. Opening it and walking out of the splendid kitchen.
