"Hello, Amelia," Adele said with a smile as she sat down across from her. As she settled in her seat, a glass of pumpkin juice appeared in front of her. "Didn't expect to see you here."
She took a swig of juice and pondered what Amelia's motive could be. Probably trying to start trouble. On second thought, the girl didn't look so sly. Perhaps she deserved another chance; after all, SECOND impressions are everything.

"Oh hello Adele, well I come here quite often actually, i'm just having breakfast like I normally do..." Amelia responded jokingly with a bright smile. "No, I just thought i'd meet some new people today, as far as I know there's not a school rule against sitting with the other houses, although some people seem to think there is."Amelia motioned towards some people scowling at her as they past. "Now usually I would have a witty and sarcastic retort for them but as you can see, i'm being uber-friendly this morning, no matter the cost."Amelia said this loudly enough so the people who were scowling could hear, whilst grinning at Adele.
Feeling in the mood for small talk, Amelia gulped down a glass of refreshing pumpkin juice before asking "How have you been finding the work then Adele? Please don't tell me you get more as the years go on."

“Well, so far it’s all pretty simple, but next term may be a bit more difficult,” she responded when Amelia asked her about school. “I definitely can’t say the workload gets lighter as the years progress.”
She still found it quite odd that Amelia was being so cheerful and friendly, but as there was no one else Adele associated with at the table, she carried along the conversation.
“How is it going for you? Are you adjusting to Hogwarts?”

To mingle with students from other houses, of course.
She wandered to the Ravenclaw table. Upon seeing two younger girls she recognised chatting there, Lisette decided to join the conversation. "Hello," she grinned. "How are you two?"

Adele then asked how Amelia was adjusting into Hogwarts. Amelia didn't even know where to begin. She had come from a completely isolated princess with no people skills or affection for anyone to well, whatever she was now. Amelia found herself actually wanting company and friends now, rather than it being forced onto her. Amelia could hardly blubber on about all this to Adele, not to anyone really. So Amelia went with a standard- "Oh, I think i'm adjusting okay, made a few friends, lessons are fine, getting to know my way around..." Amelia couldn't help remembering her previous conversations with Adele, she had acted a bit strangely and scarily truth be told, although Amelia still held most of the same beliefs she realized she had not acted appropriately with Adele. So Amelia tried to apologize the best she could, hopefully without making Adele feel awkward. "I think my people skills have improved. Before I came to Hogwarts well...I didn't know how to speak to people my own age really. You know from experience...That's all changed now." Amelia smiled awkwardly at Adele, hoping this wouldn't put the Ravenclaw off her even more.
Amelia was glad when another student joined them, it was Lisette, a fellow Slytherin. Ah. Amelia was also currently trying to convince Lisette that she was not a weirdo, so this could either work well in her favour or perhaps not. "Hi there Lisette, I'm good thank you, just having a quick spot of breakfast, how are you?" Amelia smiled, motioning for Lisette to sit and join them if she wished.

“Most first years can hardly contain their excitement,” she said about the great castle, noticing how nonchalantly Amelia spoke of adjusting to Hogwarts. Does she think that openly loving this place is un-Slytherin-like? The castle was a Slytherin’s dream, with all it’s enchantments and hiding places.
A familiar face came to join them at the table, and Adelaine was greatly relieved. Lisette was really the only Slytherin she felt comfortable around; most of them made her quite uneasy. Especially Amelia.
“Hello, Lisette,” she politely gestured to an empty seat next to Amelia’s. “Please, sit down. We were just talking about Hogwarts.”

"I'm good thanks. How are you two?" She responded politely to Amelia's request. Upon hearing the subject of conversation, she felt at ease. Hogwarts was almost her favourite topic to talk about. Hogwarts had so many rooms and so many different aspects she could go into further detail with. The possibilities were limitless."Hogwarts? That's great! What's your favourite room at Hogwarts?" Might as well start with personal interests. They could tell you a lot about someone.

Lisette had now joined the conversation and seemed thoroughly excited to talk about Hogwarts and she was older than Adele! Maybe Amelia could share her excitement then, she just didn't want to behave like the annoying first year, gazing around in awe of every insignificant detail but it now seemed the general consensus was that Hogwarts truly was something to awe at, no matter how long you had been there. Amelia tinged pink with embarrassment, feeling she hadn't made a brilliant second impression with Adele. Amelia was trying hard but she still had a lot to learn about people.
"I haven't done much exploring yet and if i'm honest I think my favourite room would have to be the Slytherin common room and the dorms, I mean it's like you can feel the magic and history around you in there, it's also the most relaxing place in the school for me, it's always very quiet and peaceful in there, being surrounded by water, I don't know...it makes me feel at peace... anyways, what about you two?" Amelia smiled sheepishly, feeling she had been rambling on for a while, she was very interesting to hear the other girl's choices and reasoning.

"Oh, I love Hogwarts," she gushed when Amelia turned the question to them. She really could go on and on about the school. "I still haven't gotten the chance to explore every inch of it, but I've certainly made my way around. To me, the most magical place is the Ravenclaw Common Room, with all the stars on the ceiling."
She didn't want to take over the whole conversation, so she decided to give Lisette the chance to speak. Then she remembered something she'd heard from a seventh-year last year. The Room of...what was it? Oh!
"Have either of you heard of the Room of Requirement?"
She leaned forward on the table and rested her head on her hand. Now she would give Lisette the chance to speak.

"Common rooms are really special places. My favourite room is the Slytherin common room too. It's just got a special feeling about it. It's a great place to socialise." Lisette searched her mind. Maybe there was some mention of a Room of Requirement? Nope, she was blank. "What is the Room of Requirement?" For all she knew, it could either be a room that gave you just what you wanted, or some figment of the imagination created by a bored student. Either way, it sounded interesting.

"I don't believe students are supposed to know about it," she said thoughtfully.
Perhaps teachers didn't even know about it. Maybe the older boy was just trying to pull one over on her; he was a Slytherin, after all.
"Apparantly, it only appears when you need something," she explained. With luck, she could talk them into going with her on her escapades to find it.

"Only when you really need something? Or can you just want something?" Lisette knew that there was a big difference between need and want, but sometimes it could get confused.
Amelia started to talk excitedly, speculating about the whereabouts of this mysterious room and claiming that it sounded 'brilliant' and 'amazing'. She found she had to agree. The Room of Requirement definitely sounded interesting and fascinating. But it also had an air of danger about it. Suppose you were trapped in the Room and couldn't get out? She shuddered and chose her reply carefully. "I think it would be a good idea to go there."

"It must only appear when you positively need something," she considered, "or I think a lot more people would have gotten to it by now."
If they did go looking for it, where would they begin? Hogwarts was huge. It had over a hundred staircases, leading to hundreds of hidden places. Adele was simply bewildered.
"Do you two want to find it with me?" she asked hopefully with a grin. She was determined to make this year an adventurous one, and this was the way to do it.

But they could try. After all, if they found it...well, the rewards they reaped would be unimaginable. "I'm up for it," she nodded, trying to not to sound too enthusiastic. It would be kind of embarrassing to sound like the overly-excited one who was a hindrance in whatever their plan was. Lisette hoped she would be helpful; it would be a small price to pay for such intelligent accomplices. She almost laughed at the way she was making it sound like they were attempting some sort of crime - a robbery, perhaps? Lisette shook her head and continued listening.
"We need to sort out more details first, though." She suddenly blurted out, feeling organised all of a sudden. "Does anyone have any idea where it might be located?"

"Well, it'll be no easy feat, indeed," she admitted with a sigh. She didn't even know where to begin; but then she remembered a small bit of information the boy had given her.
"Apparantly, it's in a corridor," she informed them when Lisette began talking about plans. "The wall turns into a door when the passerby truly needs something."
That brought up another question -- which of the girls really needed something? Not wanted, needed. This may take longer than she had expected.

Lisette then asked if anyone had any idea where the room may be. Amelia didn't have a clue, this was the first she had heard about the room of requirement. Amelia simply shook her head. Adele seemed to have an idea however. "Apparently, it's in a corridor," "The wall turns into a door when the passerby truly needs something." Interesting, Amelia thought, before saying. "Well, that's good then, if you ask me, we wont ever get into too much trouble then if we get caught searching, like if we were meant to be somewhere else. We're definitely allowed in the corridors, it's not like a forbidden area. It's just being in the corridors at the right times, when they're are not many people there to see."Amelia then thought back to the plan they would have to make, suddenly realising they could progress no further without one of them having a need to get in the room of requirement. It was a rather personal question and usually Amelia would not ask but if they were serious about finding the room, she could see no way around it. Amelia now voiced what she betted they we're all thinking. "Well, one of us is going to have to have a real need for something, otherwise we may as well quit now... i'm not saying I need to know it or anything, you can of course keep it to yourself but does either of you have a need?"Amelia put it delicately and gave each girl a small smile, showing them she wasn't purposefully being rude or nosey but that it was for the plan, they couldn't continue without a need.
Amelia then wondered if she had a legitimate need herself, perhaps, was it strong enough and worthy enough though? She would see if Lisette or Adele had anything better first.

Even Amelia, who had now started speaking, was very helpful, bringing their attention to the risk of getting caught by a teacher. "It depends on what corridor it's located in, some corridors usually have more people than others during the day so the only way to be sure of nobody else seeing us apart from a professor would be...at night." She hoped it would not come to that though. Surely there would be a time when a corridor would be empty, without the risk of a professor's wrath?
Then Amelia dropped the question. Did they really have a need?
Lisette pondered the question quietly for what seemed to her a long, long time before coming out with a small "No", thinking that she sounded like a spoiled brat who had everything she needed and probably wanted too. Food, water, clothes, shelter, air...that was all she needed right? Lisette knew there were things like friendship and happiness that could be classified as a need by some people, but she didn't really count them. Life was a need too, if you thought about it, but she wasn't in a life-or-death situation right now. She was starting to wonder if they should just give up.
