Alexander has a darker side, at times he is manipulative, egotistical and arrogant; however, much of that is a result of the detrimental upbringing. This makes most believe him to be arrogant and egotistical but in reality his arrogance stems from his parents attitudes.
Diary Entry:
August 1, 1795
Off to Hogwarts in a month's time, for the first time in my life, I shall be out of the house. Away from parents and the servants. Away from my younger siblings. I wonder if father and mother will see me off, will they take me to Diagon Alley, or will they send me with Bunce or Doge, or maybe they'd send me with cousin Rowena? Then again, they disapprove of her not being more of a blood purist. Ye gods, I wish they would stop talking about how the magical blood is becoming dilluted with mud bloods and muggles.
The Appearance
First Impression: On first impression, he seems like a very quiet reserved child. Well cared for, with immaculate clothing and high grooming standards. Very stiff and upper lip.
On Second thought..: No, Alex is a complex individual, although attempting to fit in the stereotype of a child from a well off family, he has a desire to fly brooms, get dirty and do all the things that his parents think are not appropriate for a child of his social and blood standing.

The Family History
Parentage: Jonathan Sowerby (-Carruthers; second name was eradicated) (Slytherin) and Hannah Sowerby née Ashworth (Slytherin). Arrogant, snobbish, strict disciplinarians, emotionally detached. They have little time for their children, spending most of their time enjoying social outings and events. Blood supremacists and social snobs.
Siblings: A sister: Julia aged 18 (Graduate of Hogwarts, Slytherin)
Other important figures: Cousin Rowena McKendrick (Ravenclaw), cousin of mother Hannah. Closest relative with emotional attachment to the Sowerbies. Same age as Julia. Hogwarts graduate (Ravenclaw).
Reputation: They hold stiff upper lip parties for their magic upper class peers, gracious hosts when in the company of the people of their same social class. They hold similar banquets and events for their Muggle equivelants, although these generally happen away from St. Levan.
Secrets: In the muggle world, rumours abound that the family has helped to smuggle munitions to help the Colonial Rebels fight in their Revolutionary War. In the Magical World, they have been rumours for years that they manipulate their Muggle business partners. Their grandfather, Jerome Sowerby-Carruthers (Slytherin) evaded capture and imprisonment at Azkaban after having organized and taken part in a Muggle Hunting, where he boasted to have killed over five Muggles. His whereabouts are currently unknown. Alexander himself has a problem with stuttering when nervous, he has mastered control over it but can sometimes be prone to starting. The problem is seen as completely shameful by his parents, so much so that Alexander is fearful of ever stuttering in front of anyone.
General: Although the parents are blood supremacists, it doesn't stop them from making money by doing business with muggles, half-bloods and purebloods. They willingly operate in both worlds to make the most amount of money.
