Hannah sat down at the Gryffindor table, eagerly waiting to get to know her fellow Gryffindor Classmates. She gazed around the table. There was plates and plates and plates of food along the table. Her mouth watered. Good thing the Sorting ceremony was over. She was the last student to be sorted.

Hannah felt right at home.

Betta took a few steps into the Great Hall and looked around, narrowing her eyes a bit to focus on a few random people. She was definitely back at Hogwarts; the geeks and the wannabe popular kids overflowed from each table. She smiled at all of the possibilities that might present themselves this year. It would be an interesting term, to say the least.

"Oh, bite me." she retorted, after hearing a disgusted mutter from someone at the Ravenclaw table. "Keep your nose at your own table and leave the hard stuff to me."

You'd think they would have learned by now,she thought, rolling her eyes in annoyance. And here I thought that Ravenclaws were supposed to be the smart ones. Shows how much I know, doesn't it? Without another word to anyone, she made her way to the end of the table and waited for the feast to begin.

Katrina wasn't happy to hear that she would have no time to explore the castle tonight. Katrina liked to know where she was. The streets of London were an ease after all the years or roaming them, Katrina only hoped Hogwarts could be such a breeze as well. "A month!?" Katrina blurted out. "The castle is really that big?" Well, if the common rooms weren't dungeony at least they were comfortable. Katrina noticed another familiar face then. "Oh! Hello Maddock! I didn't see you there."

Another girl greeted her and mentioned the house cup. Katrina listened as she and Amelia spoke of winning this year, and Katrina thought that sounded reasonable. hey were Slytherins, after all. The girls's families came up and Katrina still listened. Katrina thought about not returning for the holidays and shuttered. No way she could leave Evelin like that. Aparently, Lisette lived with her grandparents and Amelia made a comment about her mother. Something in her voice reminded Katrina of herself. "Amelia, there isn't any way your mother is as bad as my own." Katrina said with a scowl as she thought of the scum who had the audacity to be Katrina's mother. The headmaster stood for his speach and the feast began. Katrina ate a little of this and that but continued to listen to the girls. The head of house came up next and Katrina looked to Amelia remembering their encounter. The girls seemed to sum it up, he didn't seem like a Slytherin head of house at all. "Who was the last head of house? What happened to him?" So odd that they would need a new one.

Giovanna was glad to be back at Hogwarts. She did love her family (well at least most of them), but being around the house always with Mario drove her crazy. He always loved to annoy her specifically, but at least Hogwarts was big enough to avoid him most of the time. They were in the same house, but there were always the dorms, the Library, the grounds and all of the corridors and rooms in the humongous castle.

Giovanna entered the Great Hall with the rest of the students in her year and above. It was good to not have to journey to Hogwarts in the boats again. Giovanna didn't enjoy it last year and she knew she wouldn't again. She also felt good not being the very bottom of the food chain. She wasn't one of the first years anxiously awaiting to be sorted. She was a second year now and had some advantages over the first years. Knowing the castle already was one of them, as well as the ability to be on the Quidditch team, if there was a spot available. She did want to try out, though, since she enjoyed it quite much. Well, she enjoyed Flying, although her mother didn't quite approve of her playing Quidditch, which was a dangerous and more masculine game, in her mother's opinion. But when did Giovanna ever truly listen to her? Of course, she respected both of her parents greatly and always did as she was told, but if it came to following her father's footsteps or her mother's, she would definitely pick her father's.

Giovanna sat down at the Slytherin table and adjusted her robes so that she was more comfortable. She straightened her collar and then looked around at the Slytherins near her. She hadn't been very social in her first year. She had some acquaintances and friends, though she wasn't very close to any particular person. But Giovanna wanted to change that this year. Her English was a lot better, which made it easier to socialize. Part of the reason she had kept to herself so much the previous year was because of her poor English skills. She was still new to England, at least in relation to how much of her life she had spent in Italy, and speaking English had been quite difficult for her in her first year. She was fluent, but it wasn't the same as speaking her native language and there were always some new words she would discover that she didn't know. But now she felt more comfortable with the language and wanted to talk to people more this year. It was a new year, which meant new opportunities.

Emily gasped as the food appeared in front of her on the Golden plate. She start to help herself to some of it and dig in. She felt a lot better now. She was really pleased to be in Hufflepuff and glad that it was old over. She could relax a bit now. She grab some pumpkin juice and some fresh bread. Lovely She though. I can defiantly get used to this

Lisette didn't want to approach the subject of family life, but Amelia had spoken so much about her life that it would be rude to just close the topic of conversation. She would try to tie of all loose ends of the conversation, to at least spare Amelia the torment of answering. Amelia had been kind enough to her for that at least.
"Yes, I live with my grandparents. My parents...my parents perished when I was young. I don't really remember anything about them. Merilette and Kinstance are good parents to me." Lisette didn't want to talk any more about this subject, and she hoped Amelia would know that.

She listened attentively as Amelia talked about her family, and winced when she heard Amelia cut off her statement about her mother so bluntly. She obviously didn't care much for her. Lisette wanted to probe further, but remembered her promise and decided not to. She smirked when she discovered the hidden meaning behind 'business'. Every enterprising young Pureblood girl knew, but Lisette didn't really want to discuss 'business' right now.

"My home life is okay. My grandparents treat me well" was all that she said in reply to the 'home life' question, as she was eager to move on to other subjects. Like the new Head of House.

Lisette was a bit surprised to learn that she'd met Professor Hart before, but listened intently to what she had to say about him. 'Ok' seemed a bit too vague for her liking, but she accepted it and turned to the other girl, Katrina, who she'd rudely ignored.

Katrina had said things about her mother that didn't seem really nice. Lisette secretly wondered what she meant by that, but decided that she'd wreaked enough havoc for one evening.
"The last head of house..." What did happen to them anyway? "I think you'll have to ask someone else, I have a bad memory." She grinned sheepishly.

She suddenly noticed someone else, a second-year who looked to be of Italian descent. Figuring that she looked rather lonely, Lisette decided to greet her.
"Hello!" She waved to the girl. She wasn't too sure of her name, though...She'd just have to make a wild guess. "Giovanna? I'm Lisette." She'd heard that name before.

"Hmm, what's wrong with your mother then Katrina? Who is she, anyone I'd know? My mother is pretty ghastly I warn you." Amelia smiled, keeping her voice casual, she didn't particularly want to have a deep conversation about why she hated her mother but she couldn't see the harm of mentioning it. People couldn't tell her to be more respectful, they didn't know mother. "So I assume you won't want to be going home for the holidays then...or will you?" Katrina soon asked about what had happened to the old Slytherin head of house and Amelia was hoping someone would answer soon, this really interested Amelia too.

Regis, who now had his face stuffed with a leg of chicken (but was still trying to act like a gentleman that owned horses) offered his hand to Hannah.  "Welcome to Gryffindor!  How are you liking it?  Listen... we're trying to think of ways to dominate at the house cup this year, do you have any suggestions?"

Clearly the idea of "beating the other houses" was an idea that was going to take some workshopping.  However, Regis knew that it was possible after watching the ascent of Hufflepuff to the house cup the past year, and the decline of Gryffindor.

Kamui grinned, listening to the two of them go back and forth for a moment. "I'm from Upper Inverness, actually," he said with a smile. "My father's an officer in the military, and my mum stays at home. She's the one with the magical blood, from what I understand," Kamui said. Then the food appeared, and OH! the food! He gave it a once-over, and began piling food onto his plate and eating, all pretense of being the quiet, reserved one forgotten. His ears, however, continued working, and he heard them begin talking about Quidditch.

"I don't know if I could fly," Kamui said. "I mean, I'm sure it's like performing any other magic, but still... It seems rather risky."

Oh dear, worst possible outcome of the family conversation. Amelia now understood why Lisette hadn't wanted to discuss family, her parents were dead. Well, I've really put my foot in it now, Amelia thought to herself. Well-done. "Oh, I'm sorry Lisette..." Amelia murmured but then dropped the conversation like that. She didn't want to upset Lisette any further than she may of already have. Amelia's interest dropped in the professors as soon as Lisette said she couldn't remember why the other Slytherin head of house had left. "So there's no exciting scandal surrounding the old professor leaving? Well that's a shame, I love a good scandal." Amelia smiled, her mischevious smile at Lisette. Amelia then looked towards her new head of house. "No, I can't explain it really, he's just not what I imagined at all, for a Slytherin head of house, he seems too..." Amelia tried to search for the right word. "friendly, positive?... I don't know. Just not the expectation really, but then all of the Professors are not really what I imagined." Lisette had now welcomed a very pretty girl, her name, Giovanna, made Amelia assume she was probably Italian. Amelia immediately felt jealous of the girl but decided not to hold a grudge. "Hello, I'm Amelia. I'm new here this year." Amelia introduced herself to the girl, hoping she would be friendly.

"I am up  for so friendly competition. Hello Boyd, Hannah. Welcome to Gryffindor!" Meghan was glad to see another person join her house. She could not wait to steal the house cup right from under the Hufflepuff's noses. Meghan was trying to be polite and not cram her food into her mouth like Regis seemed to. She tried to keep to the simple foods, and not the more lavish ones for fear it might just come up again.

"Aren't Hufflepuffs know for their loyalty? Seeing as courage is not one of their strong points, we should make them feel insecure. Not just about winning, we want them to distrust even their own housemates. We want them to unconsciously look behind their backs to look for threats. We must be the threat. It may seem Slytherin, but is it really? We don't want them to be afraid of their shadow, we want them to be aware this year Gryffindor is taking the cup." Meghan was a bit out off breath and she chugged down her water.

Anna strode confidently into the Great Hall, already aware of most of the procedures here, having been informed by her father before-hand.  Nothing to worry about, really, except which house she would be placed in.  Part of her wanted to be in Slytherin, but part of her also wished to be placed in Ravenclaw.  Which one would it be?

When her name was called, she sat on the stool, and allowed the dirty looking old hat to be placed atop her head.  There was a whispering, a voice speaking directly into her ears, and she jumped at the sound of it.  It didn't converse with her long, however, and after a moment's deliberation it shouted: 'SLYTHERIN!'  Well, there was her one and only worry taken from the equation, at least.  She knew what house she would now be in, which was nice, though she was a little sad that she would not be in the same house as her father had.

She made her way to a table full of clapping and cheering green-clad students, assuming that their cheers meant they were happy to have her.  After a few more sortings, food appeared in front of her, and she smiled, taking it all in.  Knowing what was coming did not seem to diminish her ability to appreciate it all.  She piled food on her plate greedily, not realizing until that moment that she had been starving, and focused on inhaling it as quickly as she was capable of doing.

Hungrily and anxiously, Hannah spooned a pile of mashed potatos onto her plate. She was looking forward to how scrumptious, this feast might have had to be. Then, Hannah poured herself some pumpkin juice. The aroma of the pumpkin

filled her nose. It...smelled...devine. She watched other students make their way into the great hall. Some from each house.

Regis nodded at what Meghan had said.  It made a lot of sense, and she was quite knowledgeble despite the fact that she was a first year.  She was a fast talker, though, and liked to get her point across.  Regis knew that he would be seeing her again.  She finished talking at a rapid rate and after finishing gulped down water quickly, which made Regis laugh, and therefore choke.  He rushed away until he had calmed his throat and lungs down, and returned, cheeks red.

"Hello Hannah!  How are you liking Gryffindor so far?  Are you happy in this house?"

Katrina looked Amelia directly in the eye. "Muggle." Katrina said simply. "Mother was a muggle and didn't even have the decency to stay after her second child was born." Katrina let the words sink in. If she had guessed right, then she was sure her blood status may come as a shock. Katrina kept her face vacant of all expression as she searched Amelia's face for emotion. It was very possible that the girl would no longer like to associate with her despite her loathing of her blood status. Katrina knew this would happen sooner or later. She eventually sat back again and listened. Katrina was known for running her mouth, but if she was ever going to be anyone at this school she needed to listen and listen well.

Finally the meal came to an end. The left over puddings, the leftover drinks and the dirty plates and linen disappeared from the tables. Overhead the stars were starting to show in the enchanted ceiling. The headmaster felt rather full and therefore ready for bed. He climbed to his feet for the final time. "Off to bed then, I expect to see you all at breakfast tomorrow and then teh school year will begin in earnest. For now you will all go to your house common rooms and to bed. Good night"

"Oh. I was sure you were pureblood Katrina...well no matter, you could have it worse, at least we're not Hufflepuffs!" Amelia joked, shooting a look towards the cheery table of yellow, she hoped Katrina wouldn't be offended, Amelia didn't care about blood but she didn't really know how to respond politely. Amelia, although a pureblood herself, wasn't particularly concerned with blood status. If you were magical, you should be allowed to use magic, simple as that. Although a tiny bit of her thought pureblood should take some priority, Amelia shuddered, sometimes her parents views rubbed off on her a little. Amelia was shocked that Katrina wasn't pureblood though, the girl acted and looked as if she were. Amelia tried to not show her shock but she couldn't conceal it 100%. The headmaster had just stood to dismiss everyone, Amelia collected herself and stood, smiling at Katrina, she yawned, suddenly realizing how tired and full the feast had made her. "Well, looks like it's time for bed, that means time to check out our common room too, it may take a month to do the whole castle but we can make a start!" Amelia smirked at Katrina and then slowly made her way through the masses towards the Slytherin common rooms.
